I have one more set of traxxas slash drive shafts I was going to use but if you want to swap for the universals I guess id be game. Once you weld the stock dog bone on them they aren't to bad but the traxxas stuff really seems to hold up the best. my cvd mod with the integy cvds is still going strong with zero play close to 10+ hrs on them and the stock traxxas drive shafts I just did are pretty good, only bad part is the amount of axle housing mods you have to do to make them fit.

On here $65 shipped plus wheels and tires, one set 4 shocks and only one set of steering linkages but it's a great start I think to get ideas of how I wanna go with my supercat build.

welcome to the 1:8 world. haha be glad you have plastic housing and plastic wheels. I have a super bully with some nice aluminum wheels and it weighs in at over 12 pounds wheelbase for the 1:8 size run from 16" to 18" (16.5"). mine is 18.25" (a bit long by most peoples opinion) I am also using 2 of the towerpro 946 servos on each axle. for all the weight, I would recommend using a bec to power up the servos, anywhere from 6 to 7.5 volts to give you enough oomph. the more the merrier there are a couple of ways to use a bec for servos, imo use the bec to get juice only to the servos and the esc to power the receiver. not all receivers can take the high voltage or the current draw. if you want to make your own skid plate and even a chassis go to wally world and get a couple of the cutting boards. a lot cheaper than trying to get some delrin or even Teflon. do us proud bb. |

Those tower pro 946 servos any good, ie: how are they holding up? is the torque good? also what servo horn do they use? and man you hit the nail on the head with the walmart cutting board. Looks like the weather is finally nicer and im stuck doing yard work, my tractor kinda got me in a bind today fell down my pond burm and is wedged agaist a tree, going tomorrow to buy another tractor so money will be tight till I fix the old one and sell it. Plus I gotta get my 24X50 shop set up that I just had built. so my crawlers are going to have to take a back seat till I get some really pressing matters taken care of but not to worry ill still be tinkering with them.

those tower pro 946 have 12.5 kg torque and I am using 14 of them with 2 more spare. at 10.00 for the metal gears they are very affordable. the only issue I have had with 3 of them is that inside the case, the pin one of the gears spins on, wallowed out the hole it sits in. and now I see that they are still on backorder, 3 months now. I am thinking of trying some of the turnigy metal gear servos next, but the #1501 at 15.5kg for 12.00 is also on backorder so probably the 21 24 or 30 kg servos will be what I will try at 27.50, 29.00, and 30.00 though that Crawford servo at 15kg for 20.00 does not seem a bad deal. some of the guys here are already using it. the stock servo horn is 7/8" long eye to spline, I believe. I am using the 3.00 Chinese horns with 1" at the outer hole. just be aware the number of teeth on the spline, futaba type is 25 teeth and the towerpro, turnigy, and the Crawford servos use that I have 5 gold anodized ones and 3 maroon anodized horns. I try for black or blue and they send me something different, must be a language problem. you want a couple or 4 of them? I will be ordering some more shortly, hopefully I can get blue or raw, I only see black for 8.00 or more each |

Im currently still using the solar d772's with good luck and the servo horns I bought are 1 inch on the last hole of 2 options and they are clear anodized. the solars I got from hobby partz for like 17-18 dollars a piece and are aluminum bodied and I run them strait off the battery still going and they have some hours of use. They are noisy at 1st and they run hot. but I have bought 3 of them only one had an issue where the pinion gear on the motor came lose some how, but that's cool I have it for spare parts. As far as torque goes I guess they are about the same as the Crawford performance ones, which were ok but they didn't last long, but im really hard on stuff.

If your not going to use them, sure you want any of the stuff you sent me. by the way the slash stockers were some of the best uni's for the RS10 I just finally broke one last week so they lasted lots of hours and im not easy on stuff. the cvds are hanging in there as well but I use them in the rear with lock outs now since I have enough steer angle up front. The formula for max steer angle on these things is high clearance knuckles and a decent uni.

seems like a simple thing to cut a set of xr10 or yeti universals to the right length then flatten one side for the set screw to keep it from spinning. I believe the xr10 universals are 4mm in diameter, not too sure about the yetis. also seems I read somewhere about the ax10 (shafty) universals having problems and breaking at the yoke. these generic universals come in various size combinations, I got the 5mm/4mm combination save on a lot of adaptation. just waiting for money. haha choose between medicines or toys. hard choice will have to sell a gun or two. |
