If im reading the rules right, not only are they legal but you get scale points for them.

OK cool I'm fairly new to the scale scene and didnt really know the difference between sliders and boat sides they look some what the same to me other than one is solid metal that doesn't pass the rocker of the rig

Yes, that truck looks legal for Class 1 to me. There are really no specs for sliders.

Correct, you get -1 for plastic sliders and -3 for metal ones.

Sliders are bars that protect the doors and rockers. Boatsides typically are sheet metal and replace the lower portion of the body or doors to provide more rocker clearance.

Wouldnt "3D" be more along the lines of a fracture type engine? Yours is very nice but I dont think a 1/4 of the motor being 3D would bring the points. So here's another question what's considered a 3D motor 1/4 1/2 or full??

To me it looks like a 3D intake and heads/valve cover (half the motor). If you added the block and oil pan then it would work IMO.

DNF (Did Not Finish): (High score or point out +20 pts) are given anytime a driver cannot complete a course for any reason. (Time expired, point-out, vehicle not repairable, went hom, etc) Progress points are awarded for each gate completed and scale points are awarded. **If there is no point out you use the highest score on that course before scale and progress points**
i dont use a point out so i just want to make sure i understand how the high score works..

say i drive a 10 gate course, i break beyond repair with the last cleared gate being 8. my penalties are 1 gate and 5 reverses, and scale points are 50.

i would add 20 points per remaining gate, 15 for course penalties plus an additional 20 for the DNF. then subtract my progress and scale points giving me a final score of 34. correct?

+40 remaining gates
+15 course penalties
+20
=75

-16 progress
-25 scale points
= 34

Quote:
DNS (Did Not Start): (High score or point out +50 pts) are given anytime a driver cannot start a course for any reason. Vehicle must start course under its own power. No scale points will be awarded to this course.
same for a DNS, 10 gate course +50:

20x 10 gates =200
+50
=250

am i doing this right or am i high?

DNF= high score of the day + 20- progress points.

DNF driver gets to gate 9.....

Worse score of the day from a competitor that finishes the coarse is +30....

So......30+20-18(2 progress points per gate)= 32

If you have a point out cap like comp crawlers (40) use that # as high score and do the rest of the math

You then apply scale points.... This way a DNF can never have a better coarse score than the driver that finished Although scale points included can actually give the DNF person a better score than a driver that finished.

DNF/DNS can not be tabulated until every driver is done for the day if there is no point out(you wont know what high score was untill everybody is done)

DNS= high score of the day plus 50 no progress point added

ok glad i asked. thanx.

is there a general rule of thumb as far as a good point out for x amount of gates?

we generally run 3 10 gate courses for C2 & C3 and a single 30-40 gate course for our C1 events.

We set time limits not point-outs.

It seems to work well for everybody from new folks to seasoned vets. The new folks dont point out and usually have time to finish.

Our coarses are 10 min long, most finish in the 5-7 min range some in the 3-4 range and the less experienced have plenty of time if they need it.

Edit: just remebered we switched to a 80 point-out or 10 min, which ever comes first.
