Wow!! So someone has a simple idea just to discuss and they're told it's "dumb." Remind me not to voice my ideas on here. Ideas are what drive this hobby, whether they work or not. Some you try, some you don't. But to flat out call it dumb is a little rude in my opinion. What if that was a newbie asking this? Smh.

I am glad I am part of such a good rc club. Somewhere questions don't get ridiculed and made fun of. Maybe I should stick to that group. I sure don't feel welcome on here anymore.

Thanks

If he said "that wouldn't be a good idea" would you have felt better?

There's no crying in baseball!!!

Or in the, big kids playing with toy trucks league....

(And there is a Newbie section, for newbies to ask/mention/discuss, newbie ideas. Without fear of getting flamed or there ideas being mentioned as dumb).

It's not like I told him he was a stupid f**king a** hole and that he should drop dead for mentioning something like that. Holy cow.

Seriously, why limit an entire class to leaf springs when many 1:1 rigs don't have them on it? That would be like saying everybody in class 1 has to run a full VW Bus body just to make everything fair. Would that be dumb?

Thanks for livening up my Monday morning though....

What is wrong with calling a dumb idea dumb?

What an over sensitive bunch of -ing -holes.

Besides a well thought out and executed leafed truck will be competitive. And it'll wipe the floor with a fubarred (fubard? fubared?) 4-link coilover truck all day long.

Welcome to the new world, where feelings trump facts or details.

Restricting an entire class to a single suspension style would be.......a bad idea! (Better buttercup?)
Yes most vehicles sold now might maybe have a rear set of leaf springs for trucks, but not all!
But to change an entire class to meet a ......(Guessing) Noobs idea, not so much!

Its simple and not limited to suspension style,
class 1 is a stock vehicle,
class 2 is slightly modified and
class 3 is full modified.

As far as being a dumb idea........well when ur new u will pose alot of ideas that have no actual facts behind them. The seasoned guyz will look at some of these generic non-researched ideas and feel they r dumb.
Dont get panties ina wad, listen and learn. You might learn something.
When u r wanting to change an entire class to suite 1 persons "Idea" then yeah u may see some resistance from ppl who actually compete!
We get alot of noobs who want to redesign the wheel before they ever compete, then when they compete a few times realize how bad of idea they had.
Deep breath and move on to a real topic ppl!
Go ahead n run leaf springs for extra points n call it a day! Hell run 4 axles all leaf sprung n ur set for points! lol

Maybe I should have been alittle more specific and thought out in my statement.
1. My feel goods and butt aren't hurt. No butt hurt here.
I just though as a representative of the sorrca committee and the hobby maybe going around being a dick isn't the way to go.

2. I understand scale and performance, And that most vehicles in the 1:1 world don't have leafs all the way around.
But I also know that a stock or built tf2, bruiser, sawback, trail stomper, or ford hilift wouldn't compare to a stock or built scx10.
Maybe a division of class1 to separate leafs from links.

Both could run the same course. They just wouldn't compete against each other.

My apologies if you feel this is a "noob" style statement. But it's definitely a issue that is being brought up at alot of comps. And not just by the guys using leaf springs.

No disrespect or argument..

But I'll disagree.. Atleast for my TF2..

I built it over 2yrs, cause I thought the same thing. So I was in no rush..
In hind sight, I built it with performance in mind.

Spring Fling in Connecticut.. 20 guys (give or take) and a run what ya brung, style comp..

2x EPA club events, class 2

2015 NENC.. North East National Championship.. 30 guys, class 2..

My TF2 is rocking 1.55 Growler's..

It has 4x 1st place finishes!

Against all odds, some of the best driver's on the east coast and a TON of decked out axial rig's! ;)

EDIT: Yes, is full leaf..

A stock TF2 will out perform a stock scx. It turns better, climbs better and has more ground clearance under the axle with the same size tyres.
You are right about the hilift being worse than an scx10. About the only good thing about those things are the bodies.

PS. Calling a dumb idea dumb is not being a dick. It's called honesty.
