Hey EeePee you ever try the short barrel springs?

I was just thinking of this thread earlier today! Zip tie mod is the best one! I have not, and likely won't. Running the soft springs in back and mediums up front makes this truck settle nicely and going lower probably isn't going to gain me much in terms of performance. Running it as a tweaked stock truck can take me only so far, and I think I'm pretty much there. Going lower will of course help a little here and there, but it'll kill how easily it cruises through the woods and rough stuff in the creek beds or whatever. Though I could see running stiffer shorter springs and keeping the ground clearance, but then I'll lose the sag, and the droop and down travel. It could make an interesting day or two of tweaking... And here's why I was thinking of this thread today. An update! Last week I got some new tires, Proline's G8 Hammers. I've not run them a lot, but instantly I saw a performance gain compared to either the stock tires, Moabs, Badlands, or Mashers. They're like all the above pretty much, all in one tire. They're staying on the truck. Used a leather punch to put 4 holes in each tire between the tread blocks down the middle, and put a stock Axial foam inside. Mounted super easy on the Epics too. |

If I missed this in the thread I apologize, but how much did running the slash beadlocks narrow the track width? Thanks! |

I don't know what it was before, but right now it's at 10 ⅛ inches outside of the tire to the outside of the other. |

Thanks Eeepee! I have axial beadlocks on mine right now and they're wayyy too wide. Think I'll have to pick up some slash wheels before the next scale comp. |

Right on. These are okay wheels. Most impressive is that I can change a tire in maybe 5 minutes. Seriously.

whats on the back side of the Epic wheels? Doesn't look like a beadlock on that side. I have never seen them in person.

Not exactly the same wheel, but the same principle. I have Axial wheels, I can check out the difference later.

Digging up an old thread I know but I sat and calculated these figures to Actual land speed via the Gearbox Ratio and how many times the wheels actually turn per minute, and then the wheel circumference to get how far that many turns will take you. Multiplied by 60 to get a figure in speed/hr This is also assuming that the Diffs don't then provide a diferent Ratio again. Bear with me I am Aussie so I use Metric figures 10t = 6526 rpm/volt x 7.2v = 46980rpm Multiply that by 60 = 2818800 Revs per Hour Divide the R.P.H by Standard Gearbox Ratio of 40.5 = 69600 Revs per Hour for the actual Wheels. Wheel Radius including tyres is approx 6 centimeters (cm) This gives a Wheel Circumference of 37.7cm approx So Multiply 37.7cm by 69600RPH = 2623920cm/hr Divide 2623920cm by 100 (100 cm per Meter) = 26239.2 meters/hr Divide that by 1000 (1000 Meters per Kilometer Km) = 26.2km/hr approx. or 16.3mph for you Imperial guys. I will do Each of the Motors listed with Kmh and Mph figures. All are approx. rounded to nearest percentage figure 10t = 6526 rpm/volt = 26.2Kmh - 16.3Mph 15t = 4317 rpm/volt = 17.3Kmh - 10.7Mph 17t = 3753 rpm/volt = 15.1Kmh - 9.4Mph 20t = 3216 rpm/volt = 12.9Kmh - 8Mph 21t = 3082 rpm/volt = 12.4Kmh - 7.7Mph 23t = 2790 rpm/volt = 11.2Kmh - 6.9Mph 25t = 2588 rpm/volt = 10.4Kmh - 6.5Mph 35t = 1565 rpm/volt = 6.3Kmh - 3.9Mph 45t = 1210 rpm/volt = 4.9Kmh - 3Mph 55t = 987 rpm/volt = 3.9Kmh - 2.4Mph 65t = 837 rpm/volt = 3.4Kmh - 2.1Mph Now if you want a Trail Rig like I do and wish to walk along with it then you'd best look at a 55T motor maybe a 45T depending on your walking speed as Average walking speed is apparently approx 5kmh - 3.1Mph I think I need a Lie down now after that

just reading through this thread (all be it an old one) whilst fitting my barrel springs, gotta sits a lot lower now and think my heavy clod buster shell is adding to it. I've noticed that the damper length is restricting full travel of the suspension too so gonna try some of the geometry tweeks mentioned. |
