Ok, OK . I warned you, it's not pretty, but it's functional. Now, compare the following two pics. The first one is pre-wedge, the second is with it. There's a noticable difference in the exposure of the rear axle pinion and driveshaft. |

Why not make a plate like a normal link mounting plate that is bent back to give you your top plate.should be really light and angle would be adjustable.Just an Idea.

That would be another possibility. But I'd be afraid that by bending a piece of metal to a 25 degree angle, there might be a bit of fatigue at the bend and one good a$$ over head tumble and she's snapped.

You could also bend it in the rear just 2 bends, then your angles would be less severe and it would still be light but more durable.

You were right that is a hack job, but effective . does the new mounting only use 2 screws to secure the axle to the plate? if so is that causing any grief with axle wrap or breakage ?

Surely it's not THAT bad, hotwheels . Anyway, the new mounting system uses the factory servo mount (as you can probably see in one of the pics). I have the two screws in the front as well as two screws through the "arms" that come off of the axle. I drilled out a hole where the guidepins were on the arms. I passed two screws through the holes and into the wedge. Very secure mounting, actually. Here's another pic that shows the mounting screws at the arms. |

You should have plenty of room, depending upon where you placed your electronics. Right now, my back plate is completely empty!

Well did some more work on the Shadow Project today. I installed a wedge on the rear of the BM-V2 chassis to rotate the rear yoke up and out of the way. It turned out pretty slick! Also finished the steering, installed the body post, cut and mounted the body (I'll paint it tomorrow), and worked on my 07 comp tires! This rig is getting sicker by the minute. I'll post up some pics after the paint is done. Just can't wait to get my DX3 and Mamba Max. If it doesn't get here soon, I'm going to throw a TQ3 and TR2 in it for some test runs! |

A couple of quick pics, camera battery is dead. Painted up the body, and I like the simple blacked out look! A pic of the wedge as well, not very good, but I hope you can see it. I'll head to Wally World tomorrow and get some more batteries and take some more pics. Last edited by dezfan; 12-29-2006 at 09:27 PM. |

OK, the Spektrum came in today and is installed, the wheels need to be narrowed still, I need the Mamba Max and the Blackfoot axles so I can use my MSD wideners. Then the Shadow will be done! Supposed to rain big time tomorrow and Sunday, so testing will have to wait! |
