| Trigger pulled, now it's time for a slow build!
So i've been in an out of RC since I was 11, worked for Schumacher for 3 years before they shut down the US office. Since then I've been unemployed and my racing has come to a complete halt. I have a vintage project or two that I was trying to work on but the cost is ridiculous so I've shelved both of them, (probably selling soon, need money for this project!) So I picked up a Jeep YJ CC01 this morning after scouring these threads for the past few weeks. I just wanted something to drive around the backyard and play in the mud puddles and I've always been a fan of crawlers but not the comp aspect. I've learned a lot from just this section alone and I plan on asking many questions and lighting the search button on FIRE! So please keep posting updates and pics from your own projects because it's been a great inspiration for me to start my own! I'll start posting my own pics once I get the vehicle delivered Last edited by abailey21; 10-24-2012 at 01:57 PM. |

You know, after looking at a bunch of different vehicles I really saw that first Tamiya was the way to go because of the scale realism. Plus there is a small but good aftermarket for this chassis. I don't think there's a better one tell you the truth

That is awesome. Mine showed up about a week ago and am waiting on a package from Junfac and Asiatess - both full of aluminum. I wanted one like you - to drive in the rocks of the backyard that won't go as many places as the SCX10. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard! You will like the CC-01. Plenty of options out there. Check out Jufac too. They have a bunch of cool add ons as well.

I was looking at junfac's 4-link and skid plates;) I think I just want to get some RC4WD rims and tires and maybe a motor upgrade to begin with. The whole point of this build was less cost than vintage, so proving that to my wife is going to be tough, especially when I can drop $500 on aftermarket goodies immediately! |

Did you get the kit or the rtr? I'd start off with a bearing kit ASAP.

I miss my 'Jero, with a few simple rear link re-locations it became a very flexy suspension. The biggest improvement, hands down, is the addition of a GRU. I used the 4:1 compact one from rc4wd. This transformed the truck from a go-fast dog chaser to a very realistic slow speed off road machine.

I use junk Chinese stuff, If I was racing I'd spend some coin. But mud dirt water it just doesn't make much sense.

For bearings, just get whichever brand you prefer. These are the sizes you will need. 11x 5x11x4mm 2x 10x15x4mm 2x 6x12x4mm 3x 5x8x2.5mm |

Don't watch to close dude, I may take a while to pile up some parts before I even begin the build. Now that I'm home from Denver I'm gonna get my vintage stuff together to sell and hopefully make up enough ground to buy what I think I want for this build lol |

Look what came a two days early! The smell of a new kit is awesome, and it's been to long! Now I need to start piling up some parts, first is bearings and a tube of boat grease. I can sneak that past the wife, need to offload some vintage stuff before I start buying some aluminum goodies! Also looking to do a hex screw kit for this instead of the phillips, if anyone has a cheat sheet of the quantities and sizes for a screw kit please pass it along! |
