To add on top of that, the last three comps I've been in I've had a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Top spot once went to a berg. The other top four in all have been shafties, Losi's and Axial's. Long live the shafty!!!!

For those of you who don't think a shafty can be competitive with MOA's in a big comp... how about:

1st place shafty AND 1st place overall at AWCC qualifier #1 today at Lake Wohlford!

Nice work, Jake. Way to show them what a shafty can do.

I tried it because your Claws were working really good there I had to switch to Boss Claws to hook up at Valley of Fire.

Great stuff!

Is there somewhere we can see pics/video of the event?

Cheers,
Mike.

Of course

I made a few small changes to my current setup. I also have been jumping back and forth between a few sets of Comp Claws with different weights. I ran a heavy set at Wohlford with all the center lugs still intact. Each front weighed in at 16oz. and each rear is at 10oz.

Front Suspension:

Upper Links: Top hole

Shock Arm: Center hole (B)

Shock Mount: Bottom hole (1)

Shock Oil: Losi 50wt.

Piston: Red #56 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSA5046

Internal Limiters: none

External Limiters: 15mm

Springs: Losi Gold http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSA5144

Rear Suspension
Upper Links: Bottom hole

Shock Arm: Center hole (B)

Shock Mount: Middle hole (3)

Shock Oil: Losi 45wt.

Piston: Red #56 http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSA5046

Internal Limiters: none

External Limiters: 12mm

Springs: Losi Gold http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...rodID=LOSA5144

About halfway through the day I changed my front shock arm positions to the top hole (A) to lower the front of the rig even more. I felt that I needed the lower CG to clear the huge bonus wall over the water on course #3... it worked well enough to pull a -28

There's some pics of the courses in the AWCCQ thread in the competition section. I haven't found any pics of me on course yet, but I'll post them when I find them. For now here's a pic of my ugly mug that should make my sponsors pretty happy

-Jake

Before you quit using the White springs, did you feel like they were wearing out? Had they lost much of their springy-ness? What is your belly clearance with the golds?

That is impressive. At that level how much of that is driver and how much is the tuck/setup?

As with most RC things, I would say 30% truck and 70% driver. Jake can flat out drive. He could/would do very well with an Axial, did very well with a Berg and now does very well with a Losi.

That being said, I love the Losi!

Yeah, my first set of whites were on the truck for nearly a year, and they did wear down. I tried a brand new set and it was noticeably springy-er. Having said that, once you get the oils/preload set with the golds, its awesome

Come out and check out a comp sometime. Our next Socalrcrc series comp is at Horsemen's center off Hwy 18

I see that you switched either to titanium screw kit or stainless. And its all still
4-40. What kit did you buy? Or did you get it from a local hardware store?

Thanks.
