I put ProLine's new 1.9 dual stage foams in my Hyraxes and they feel great. They feel a little softer than CI's medium outers so we now have a good choice between CI medium and CI way-to-soft soft outers.

I tested today, incredibly than usual, I kept the original foam, a good compromise
between the shoulder softness and support, nothing too fancy mind you,
but from a foam stock I would not have demanded more.
The behavior of the rock is great as well as on the ground, and have the pleasant tendency to cleanse themselves.
With a dedicated foam and a bit of usury to the tread i expect great satisfaction

the quoted size on the proline dual stage foams is 4.1 inches..how well does that fit in the 4.73 hyrax tire? Do you have alot of gap beteeen the tire and foam or does it fill the tire even though its spec'ed different?

Fills the tire, they fit perfect.

Really? I wasn't aware of that. The foams are just a bit oversized when holding them next to the empty tire. They completely fill out the Hyrax with plenty of sidewall support from the closed cell inner and there's no gap inside the tire anywhere. In fact I would only recommend using these 1.9 dual stage foams on tires that are 4.7 tall or taller and decently wide like the Hyrax, RBXL, Flat Iron XL, etc. These foams are most definitely a big tire foam. I'll post a pic tomorrow when I pick up another set of ProLine 1.9 foams.

Here you go allanon. This is next to the Hyrax and RBXL both mounted with foams so they are as big as they are gonna be. You can see that the foam is still plenty big enough to fill these, or any other large 1.9, with no dead space. I'm really liking these new Proline dual stage foams BTW. I mentioned before, they are just a bit softer than CI's medium but firmer than CI's soft so it's a really nice in between density and the closed cell center portion is firmer than CI's closed cell so there's excellent sidewall support. It's great to have another option for foam tuning. I'm as obsessed with using the proper foams as I am with the proper suspension setup. Those are two of the best things you can do to make any crawler perform along with good tires.

Indeed. I didn't even have to think twice about that PitBull sale. Luckily this time I already have the wheels because of another sale I caught. Usually a set of tires on sale sets me back a couple Benjamins because I have to also order that sweet set of wheels I've had my eye on for a month or so. I love getting a new set of wheels and tires mounted up.

The hyrax With proline foams are more than the rbxls. I've heard the rbxls foams are very good

You do have a good point but its only more by $1

how about this if i go hyrax and dual stage foams over RBXLs i now have two options for an extra $1

I plan to use the stock foams for a while and then buy dual stage foams later. more play for the dollar

I've only heard that from a couple guys. Most, like me, tried the stock foams and immediately switched to CI or another dual stage foam. The stock foams are way too hard. That extra $1 buys you much much better foams and the choice of density if you go with CI.

So did Pro-Line also start finally giving foams that fit the tires? I didn't use the ones that came with my KO2s but they actually fit inside the tire and were mountable. I seem to remember PL foams being way oversized.

Compare apples to apples not apples to gourmet apples. The Proline Hyrax will always be cheaper than the Pitbull Rock Beast XLs if you use the included foams. The Pitbull tires do not come with anything similar to the Proline dual stage foams. So basically you're comparing a tire with stock foams to a tire with upgraded foams which is unfair.

Does anybody have photos of the Hyrax on a Vaterra Ascender K5 Blazer?
