Going to have to pick up a new thumb drive tomorrow on the way home. The only one I can find is 1g and I need slightly more than that.

I didn't realize when I bought the PC that it didn't have a cd/dvd drive. Most likely its a refurbed server. It's just a bare bones rig.

Hey, same thing happened to me I couldn't even get an OS on it, because something about the bios not having the drivers to install via USB and the motherboard not having a slot for CDrom to plug in.

Getting a thumbdrive to work as a Win7 install disk is doable but a pain in the ass. It's not as easy as copy/paste. I was seriously about to pull some hair out. If that isn't what you are installing please disreguard

I guess I'll find out tonight. Got in my truck this morning and realized that I had forgotten about the 8g USB drive sticking out of the faceplate of the radio.

Worst case scenario is I hook it up to the web and dl what I need to run it all on windows since it came with win 7 installed.

I think that maybe you're missing the acknowledgement that you learned on manual equipment and you're moving on to CNC.

Mmmm, no, not really. The sole purpose for going cnc was to increase or make possible production of things that are either incredibly time consuming or hard to manually reproduce consistently. While production is what brings in the money, it is laborious and soul sucking. That isn't why I taught myself to do these things.

Besides, I am still very much a hack.

Bench is built, everything is hooked up, running mach3, and I have movement!

Got zero limits set, but can't set the soft limits to save my life. Watched the official video tutorial, and read a few different threads on it.

x axis set to 7100 max, 0 min
y axis set to 9704 max, 0 min
z axis set to 0 max, -1000 min

I can run everything around and it'll always stop at 0. Go the other way and it crashes. Any thoughts?

Screw soft limits! Limits on each end of the axis or only home switches? You in MM? Ports and pins as well as motor tuning would be the first things on my list.

Limits on each end of the axis.

Did ports and pins and motor tuning per the instructions that came with the router.

Working in motor home/soft limits. All home coordinates are @ 0. Soft limits are as stated above, but it only responds to the minimums. It'll blow right past the maximums (which are set conservatively).

Don't worry about using the soft limits so long as the machine will stop when it hits the switches.

I don't have the switches on yet. Those will come next week. I may end up having to return and exchange the pc (power on issues) so I'll use the downtime to open up the controller and wire in the limits.

I got it.

Had the native units set to in instead of mm. Soft points are working all around.

Sucks about the computer... the sooner the better on the switches. Especially if you are going to finger cam.

Yes, but I apparently am supposed to change that somewhere else. When I click on Native Units, its says it is only used for motor tuning, not changing gcode.
