Lookin' great! Nice 3D prints! Thanks for sharing them. Nice wiring job! The wire loom is the perfect solution to hide and tidy the wiring. I usually use the same on my rigs. |

| Re: Fricker08’s…. Now Twade984’s Vs4-10 Phoenix I got a smoking deal on an ender 3 a while back, so that’s what I’ve got started with. Eventually I wouldn’t mind adding a second printer, and possibly try something nicer Quote:

| Fricker08’s…. Now Twade984’s Vs4-10 Phoenix
Minor update, I’ve been swamped with buying/fixing/moving into a new house, and really haven’t had much time for rc. During all that however, I acquired a new project (well, three actually) that will necessitate some changes to the Phoenix. First, I will be robbing the mamba x and installing a micro x. Second, I will pull the 370tbl and install my spare shv800 since I don’t like external bec’s. Third, the little bit of run time I have with the pro-line trenchers, they seem to have amazing grip on dry rock, but I can’t get past the rounded profile, and the fact they aren’t licensed. So I swapped some 10.3 nittos on for now, and the trenchers will find a new home. Threw in some extra lil novas I had laying around, 4.75 med outer f/r Fourth, I’m thinking about painting the body on the outside, maybe a dark green, maybe orange, maybe blue? I’ve been interested in trying this method, and tbh the Phoenix body isn’t my favorite, so not much to lose. And I still haven’t installed the standard rear portal gears. Forgive the harsh lighting, I’m still unpacking the garage. |

I’m holding out for the next quiet esc release from Holmes. If I can score one of those, I’ll buy another revolver and put it in something Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looking good Twade! I’m not sure how I missed the battery tray but I really like that idea! It’d be nice to run the battery on one side and the esc + Traxxas tax box on the other. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Thank you. On the kit that I built and ended up parting out, once I got everything installed, dig and o/d servos, Esc mounted on the rh tray, it just felt really cramped. It reminded me of the full option trx4’s, where you really don’t have much versatility in battery and electronics mounting. That was part of the reason I decided to use the pro trans instead. That and I sold my twin with aluminum motor plate and standoffs for about as much as the pro trans and the vfd dig, if I decide to add it later. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Finally installed the standard rear portal gears, robbed the dig unit from my pro, installed a 52t spur and 15t pinion. Also took the real vp roosts from my f9 Capra, they have 4.75 Pitbull growlers with CI lil novas inside. This setup is going to stay for the foreseeable future. This leaves my current gearing at 52/15 = 3.46 VFD front output = 2.95 Front r&p = 3.75 O/d portal gears 1.4 Total 53.5:1 to the front wheels 52/15= 3.46 VFD rear = 3.15 Rear r&p = 3.75 Standard portal gears = 1.66 Total 67.8:1 to the rear wheels Total o/d 23.5% It’s a little slow on 3s, but I plan to run 4s anyway. Hopefully be able to take it for its maiden run in the next couple of weeks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Man, those growlers really pull it all together. And I agree on the Trenchers, definitely not my favorite tire looks wise. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thats such a purdy rig twade! All tidy n clean wiring. I like the black roost wheels, they go with the body really well. How u like the growlers? Ive got a set of RB n they done real good, they just dry rotted around the bead. I think the trenchers wouldve been alot better of a tire if they hadnt changed the tread design. The ones for the bashers have a better tread pattern than the crawler version |

Thanks buddy, I really like the looks of the growlers myself. They surprised me on the Capra how well they did, considering the tread pattern. Definitely as large of a tire as I care to run. They are almost identical in size to the 10.3 nittos. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thank you sir. I bought them used from a member here purely because I thought they looked good, really didn’t expect much for performance, but they seem to hook up pretty good out here. I ran one of Fricker08 early versions of the v3 with trenchers on, and it hooked like a mofo on dry rock. Unfortunately, I just can’t get past the rounded profile, and lack of licensing. If I ever build another flat rail chassis I’ll likely get another set Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Man the rain hasn’t let up much yet this year, but today and tomorrow are clear so I finally packed up the Phoenix and ran it on my lunch break. Overall I’m really surprised how well it performed. I expected it to feel more tippy or top heavy considering the portals and heavy ish body set. As of now my only change will be a couple tweaks to the esc programming, fixing a leaky shock (leaking from the bleeder screw just from sitting on the bench), and some heavier oil. Probably 80 or 90wt. Here’s some proof. https://youtu.be/3SjvK3EBIlw |

At the moment, the Phoenix axles, links, shocks, and driveshafts are getting set aside for a different project. And hopefully the final test print in pla The Phoenix chassis, body, and possibly wheels and tires are going to get built with some ar45’s, element stealth trans, and an extra set of Phoenix/vp conversion links.
