Codyboy this is some great info. thanks. I see the you had to remove the brace between the front shock towers. Do you notice any issues?

I don't have it running yet, but I don't see it being a problem.
Thanks for the comps, I will be posting up some more photos this week, it is turning to a real junk yard beater!

Ok I have subscribed to this thread. I am doing my first build in 20 years. I am trying to cut my ascender down to fit the Tamiya Bronco. I am considering moving the motor so i can put an interior in it. I know GCM has a kit but, like you I like to figure things out myself.

Sounds Good, My builds go slow, but steady. If you would like, I still have some of the SS channel that I used to make the motor plate. It fits almost perfect on the frame. If you want to pay shipping I could cut a piece and send it to you.

No problem. Got axles cut down today an all the links cut to fit. I'll try to get it running with the mid mount first then tackle the move. Its coming along. Like you I am not in a rush. Although I can't wait to drive it.

OK, I guess I should change the title of this thread to "RUSTY CRUSTY BEATER"
I took the holidays off to go to Pasadena and watch the Oregon
Ducks dismantle FSU !!!!!!

So now, back to building. I finished up the front and rear bumpers, and the boatside rock sliders. All the tubing is SS thin wall 1/4" so it would be easier to age and dent. I did the same thing on the inner pieces of the roll cage. Doing this also saved on weight on the cage.

Next will be a shifting servo mount for the two speed tranny.

Well I guess it is time I should update this build.
I desided to go a different direction with the theme and body. It morphed from a rusty old jeep to a 73 Bronco.
Sorry Paintchip31! I still have the the rusty crusty body with cage and and bumpers on the shelf. May put it up for sale later.

I wanted to build a interior for it, so here is a copy of the 73 dash.

I also plan on building a full cage and bumpers for it.

Here is more progress on the interior.

Eventally I'm going to make some front seats for this with the five point harness.

Started bending up the cage, I'm going to use 1/4" and 3/16" stainless steel tubing.

More progress on the cage.

I have been working on Boe's XR10, just about ready to send it back to South Dakota. Besides I told you I was waiting on you and Rhett to get back to yours!!!! But I do have some more pics to post later.

SHOme thinks I need to get on with it, so here is the front bumper I made.

You can see here the grill I made.

The bumper is 3/16" stainless steel.

I kind of wavered on going topless and desideded that the cage would stand out better with the rest of the top gone. I thought the yellow cage would look good with the body colors. ( Redskins Colors SHOme, would say).

Some dingo finder flares will be next.
