changed out the rear hr shock mounts and fitted a new alloy battery tray with incorperated rear shock mounts so i can get the shorty battery right up inside the cab now giving far better weight distribution and almost centralizing the weight between the wheels ,it will also take full size hardcase batteries now but im only using shorty pacs, the option is there if i want though also the rear shocks bottom out on their rubber bump stops without the axle truss hitting the underside of the battery tray now , much much better also made some ally side numberplates Last edited by biggamehunter; 01-05-2014 at 03:35 PM. |

Clean battery tray! I just got a Jevnie Racing battery tray, but it only accepts the stock size pack. Gotta figure out how to run my big shorty packs still.

| Re: my twin hammers , starting an upgrade this is why i opted for this one pockets , it will take full size packs but shortys fit right up under the roof , theres hardly any of the pack left showing outside the roof and this was much cheaper ? cheers for all your time and interest mate it means a lot , i have ordered hot racing front hubs and caster blocks and some kong tow shackles today , got the robinson racing steel gears and exta hard slipper pads ( kevlar) in now , im thinking of making a rear billet bumper / tail plate to fit where the last rear crossmember of the cage is bolted in under the spare wheel ?? but weight could be an issue there with such a long tail ? cheers

If you remove the spare, it will climb better and won't be as bouncy. Huge difference when I took mine off. Doesn't flip over backwards anymore on steep climbs.

| Re: my twin hammers , starting an upgrade i was thinking of that ??? and shortening / bob tail the rear cage ? but i do like the spare as a bumper type protector as this hammers is mainly run as a flat out racer rather than a crawler mate ?? cant decide ? any pics of yours with the spare off please ??

so i tried out the th as it was and discovered the spare wheel overhanging the tail by such a large ammount seriously hampered the front wheel traction on steep slopes/inclines and at speed was making the rear of the truck act like a pendulum ? it was only there purely for asthecic purposes and i must say i was fond of the way it looked , bit it was such a big hindrence to balance and performance it had to go ! so i went ahead and did the bobtail ! im realy liking this truck the more i tune it ! |

| Re: my twin hammers , starting an upgrade thanx pockets , the offset is also the same on the front as well as the rear , both front and rear axles are 50mm wider than standard , mainly as the rear tyre was rubbing the side numberplates under heavy twist causing it to bind and rub so widening the footprint cures this , its a huge difference to the handling and ballance , a lot more planted much better stance , more height on the tyres in maximum twist due to the axle being longer , cheers shaun |

the locked rear diff takes a bit of getting used to at high speed and slight roll on the sidewalls of the tyres at speed , i think they would do far better with the new pitbull 2 stage foams ? also the proline flat irons were awesome when crawling but a but gooey and narrow at high speed ? i think this rig needs a wider tyre with stiffer sidewalls at speed like the pitbull rock beasts , i am getting a set to try , the stainless fastrax lightbar held up fine no damage drspite a few piledrivers into the ground at full rip , no issues with water and electrics and it was very very wet so im happy there , also no bother from the shift servo , worked perfectly , the mip shafts also held up well , i ran 3 full 4200 lipos through it constantly and not one issue with anything , ( except for me slipping on my butt down a long muddy slope) !!! excelent rig very very happy , few more parts left to complete the upgrade but they will be here soon thanks for your input in advance

What aluminum spacers are you using there on the back where you did the cage mod? Looks awesome BTW.
