Ok. So far nothing has broken other than a wheel hex stripping. As I said the stock electronics failed on the first run, not a big deal as they were getting replaced anyway. So it now has a Spektrum DX4C, Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 esc, an old Acoms steering servo, alloy wheel hexes and alloy rear uprights fitted. I am waiting on a Savox SW0231 MG steering servo, an EMAX ES3005 shift servo (great little servos for the price), alloy servo mounts and a Losi 22 alloy servo horn (in readiness for the Irie bellcrank steering). Loving the truck so far, will report again after the new parts have been fitted. Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk |

Just an FYI The MIP rear drive kit doesn't fit the K949 rear pinion shaft...the K949 shaft is a larger diameter than the actual Vaterra model. Just need to get a new fr/R ring and pinion gear with the right bearing and should be good to go. EDIT: Got part number VTR232016 Fr/R Ring and Pinion gear and it looks good. But almost all the WLToys K949 bearing sizes are different. Example, from the Twin Hammers exploded parts diagrams, VTR237007 is a 5x11x4mm bearing for the pinion gear in the rear axle housing. However, the WLToys version is a 6x12x4mm bearing (first number difference due to pinion gear shaft being larger as noted above). However the outer axle bearing is 1mm smaller in diameter at 10mm instead of 11mm, another difference. So makes me suspect there are small differences throughout although the internal diff housing bearing is the same. I will keep checking as I go but beware if you are looking at a bearing upgrade kit. They all won't work. Last edited by eMoon; 11-21-2015 at 07:55 PM. Reason: Added more detail |

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be sure to double check sizes as I go through the upgrade process. I'm still waiting on my shift servo, update to follow when it finally arrives. Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk |

I just got my Feiyue Desert 3 I'll take some pictures next to my TH First impression. Definitely smaller. Suspension is sooooo loose. Would flex and crawl better than a TH.......if it were locked. Haven't driven it yet. But, it's definitely closer to toy grade. Still impressive for the price though. Two of the screws holding the battery tray to the cage were omitted and one of the front wheel hexes was not seated in its groove before they tightened the wheels on. Glad I caught that. Rear links are about .5-.75" shorter than TH links. Front shocks are waaaaay longer than the suspension geometry. They don't even come close to compressing all the way at full compression. Seems like the steering changes a bit as suspension travels. Definitely want to swap to adjustable linkup front. I ordered the US plug, but got the uk charger. Boooo Thank god I can balance charge this with my TH charger. Dont know if lithium ion is any different that lipo, but it charged. The on off switch is in a better place than TH Tires are dinky too. My scale BFG AT's were the smallest tore I had before. That is a size increase compared to the stock tires on this guy. Looking forward to a good test run soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's the first side by side comparison I've seen. Do you think it'd be possible to fab up a front shock brace/tower like those on the TH to run a conventional setup?

Definitely. I was even thinking about removing the upper arm and just mounting a shock to the top of the spindle. Kinda like a strut on a passenger car. I dunno. Just to try it. But, really if I think about building it too much, I get to a point where I'm replacing everything and am left with a weird trans that only accepts 380 motors, doffs and arms that are hard to get parts for, and kinda weak plastic all around. I've only had it for a day, but I'm already thinking this is best left mostly stock with a couple miss like adjustable links, oil in the shocks, heavy diff oil and that's it. If you're gonna put much time in and plan on driving hard, I think it's best to just get a TH. But, for what it's worth it's really cool as is. I was hoping the width would be substantially narrower if it was gonna be smaller, but it seems shorter length wise, but not that much in width. It really crawls poorly with double open doffs. Hoping 500k fluid helps. If you blip the throttle, you can get through nasty stuff, but it's certainly not crawling. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I packed grease in the diffs on mine. It's still open, but not so much. I bought a second one for about $63 and am going to try to build a rally car with it using an old fastlane STi body. I put a 540 on one and it works. But is only on using one bolt. So I'm looking at maybe a cheap out runner, some sort of cheap brushless, or just put the little motor back in. I put some HPI oil filled shocks on the back and preloaded the shock shaft in the front with a tiny O ring to drop the ride height. |

I stretched my 2nd one just a little and am experimenting. The body isn't mounted yet and is just sitting on top of the posts. Last edited by Brake Weight; 12-12-2015 at 04:30 AM. |

Was that hood custom made/cut on a waterjet or something? Very nice cosmetically.

What is the The Wild Truck? There's some pics several posts back with a Twin Hammers side by side with the FEIYUE. Can't get any better comparison on the interwebz than that. |

The wild truck is the twin hammers clone. It's the same thing. The FEIYUE is totally different. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk |
