This is a winch set up tip:
Winch controller setup - YouTube

It discusses adjusting your transmitter's trim and end points.

i had this with my winch controller, i just had to rebind my radio with the aux channel failsafe set to the "off" position for the winch so that if i lost rf link or my batterys died i dont have to worry about the winch suddenly winding out or in and ending up binding and potentially killing the controller.

Was this done on a DX4S?

no im using a dx3e, im supprised after just looking at the dx4s manual it only states the throttle channel, you can plug a servo into the aux channel and set it to the neutral or mid position and try to rebind it and see if it does in fact keep it centred with no signal, i will have to see if i can borrow my friends dx4s as thats got me wondering now.

my dx3e originally had the aux failsafe go to one of the offside servo positions but i was able to rebind and set it to centre instead.

it seems strange that i can do that on a dx3e which is at the lower end of the quality radio range and yet the dx4s does not specifically indicate if that is the case for the other channels

Tried that and no change. I pm'd heyok a while ago because I have 2 of these and one does it one does not. He says it is just the way they are. He's the genius so I'm taking his word for it. I'll be ordering 2 more in a couple months so I'll hope for the best out of those. Normally it wouldn't matter if I had to shut off the truck before the radio but on this set up I have a tow rig and trailer that I load my blazer on. Using the model match on my DX4S I can switch from truck to truck at the push of a button. But with this problem I have to leave the winch unhooked or it takes off. I would just swap to my other 3pw but I am starting a new build that would have the same problem with. Thanks for the help. Even with this small problem the heyok controllers are the only way to go.

I would like to say that service is top notch as well. As soon as I got my controller today, hooked it up...it worked perfectly. I had bought one through one of the vendors's that Al has dealings with, and Al set me up with a replacement (yes it failed for some weird reason) without hesitation. How awesome is that service? I would not think twice about getting one of these controllers at all. Keep up the excellent work.

Do these controllers not work with the rc4wd bulldog winch? I just bought one and hooked it up and I only get smooth operation in one direction, the winch will glitch and not spool smooth the other way, which way it works smoothly in I can change with my trim for my third channel but I really don't want to have to go into the menu and switch my trim every time I want to winch. My radio is a dx4s by the way.

I will help you in PMs to save from cluttering up the thread.

If the servo motor is truly brushless, then no. The controller works with DC motors.
If you have one of these servos, open it up and see if it uses two or three wires to power the motor. Be aware that some DC servo motors have a wire going to the motor case - this is just for RF noise suppression and these motors really only use two wires to operate.

Try powering the motor with a few volts and see if it will run.

If you want to send me one of these servos, I will check it out for you. Send me a PM and we can sort something out.

I'll pull it apart again to see if there are three spots on the board, The board is connected to the motor.(no wires)

Those ones are harder to take apart. Solder braid or a desoldering tool of some sort would be good. Otherwise, get the pad hot and smack the servo sharply onto a board or something to try and get the solder off the pad.

Good luck!
