I've run mine on a 2 position aux channel just fine (DX3S.) You just need to set the travel on one end to zero, then use servo reversing to reverse the direction from winch in to winch out. It gets slightly annoying, but manageable. I did end up getting a DX4S eventually... |

I was, and I thought it would be more difficult for me to manage the sequence of operation in your two position controller rather than on my own. Say if I winch out, stop then want to winch out some more the 2 position winch controller wouldn't be friendly for that... at least as I understand it. But with the new Tx, it doesn't matter. |

Heyok, I purchased one of these from The Crawlspace in Arvada Co, and its acting funny. I am running it on 2s and the winch will start and stop while spooling out. I can hear the relay clicking on and off. Also it will do a quick creep sporadically. I have the EPA set all the way to the max on a Spectrum DX3E and if I turn it down at all the controller won't work. I was wondering if I could send it in and have you look at it? I think I got a weird one. Thanks! |

Hey Al, I got one of your controller off you befor (you dropped it off at dicks lumber for me one day) so im looking at building a new truck and doing a dual winch setup so im looking at running 2 of your 4amp controllers wondering if there is anything I have to really do to run 2 of them or is it just plug and play? And do you think this will kiĺl my runtime by much?

A question for you... Do you have enough channels so that you can control both winches at the same time? Maybe you only need to work one at a time. You could use my servo toggle switch Servo Toggle Switch and feed your receiver channel to one winch controller or the other. Or, just use the one winch controller and use a toggle switch to feed one winch or the other and save yourself some money. Send me a PM with any further questions and I will help you figure it out. ![]()

Hello Al, first, I'd like to apologize for my poor English as I live in Austria, Europe. Before, I had a 3racing winch working properly but without sufficient power for my 10-pounds-rig. So I decided to go for something more powerfull. I bought a KMS K3 winch and a HeyOK 4A relay controller. I used the old controller for a brief test run of the K3 winch and it worked well. Then, having plugged in my HeyOK controller, nothing but "winch in" was working. I tried all kind of settings on my Futaba T4PL but all I could achive by was to stop the winch. So no winch out possible. What more could I try? Thanks Per Nilsson, Austria |

Most likely you just need to set the end point (sometimes called Travel Adjustment) out further in the direction that the winch will not move. I made a video to help show what might be happening: Winch controller setup - YouTube Please feel free to send me a PM so we can work towards getting things working. Thanks, Al

Hi Al, first off, thank you for all your hard work getting these controllers made and helping all of us to get up and running. Top notch customer service. ![]() Just so I'm clear, 3s 4400 batt. Bec set at 7.4v MMP & Pro4HD motor. Your 4a controlle r. + KMS K2 180 winch = plug n pull???? Thank you and KMS for great products. ![]() |

If you are running more that 6 volts to the receiver, you will need the controller with the "H" option. See the first post in this thread. The first post also suggests how to wire your external BEC so that your steering servo gets a higher voltage (7.4V in your case) while keeping the receiver at 6 volts. If you do that, you won't need the "H" type controller.

| ![]() Sorry, that's entirely my fault. I forgot that I made up a new thread for this part and just assumed that we were in it. Here it is: 4 Amp Relay Output Winch Controller |

hey Al. got a question. i got the 4A controller, and its awesome. hooks up really well. works great. thing is i have burned up two servos already. one was one of these, TP MG996R MG996 Metal Gear 55g Servo w CNC 25T Metal Servo Arm Horn | eBay. and i burned up a 625mg. so, what can i do, or what servo do you recommend, on a budget that won't burn up as soon as i put a load on it? thanks man. |

I've had pretty good luck with the TP995 and TP996 Maybe run your winch at a lower voltage. I make a version of the controller with a self resetting fuse (I don't advertise this much, but it is available). If you put too big a load on it, it will cut power to the winch motor and might save things. Send me a PM if you want more info on that one.

1. Use a 2S pack to run your rig and winch controller. 2. Keep using your 3S pack to power your ESC but use a 2S pack to plug into the battery input of the winch controller. 3. Use an adjustable BEC to feed power to the battery input of your winch controller.

cool cool. i suppose i wil have to get a 2s pack to go in there. or what about this. if i don't use the deans plug between the battery and the esc will the power coming through the RX be enough to power the controller and the servo? i have 7.2 going to the RX right now via a CCBEC Pro right now. |

That should work fine! It will help save you some weight too as you aren't using a second battery. Last edited by heyok; 07-20-2014 at 05:08 PM. |
