Kaetwo's Tekin FX-R Review...

Well I went through and reset everything per the instructions above and my Drag Brake is still messed up. If I just release the throttle it dosent hold. I have to hold the throttle on a little to "set" DB to work. Then if I steer a little the thing starts to roll back words. I dont know what else to try. The funny thing is that it works fine with 55t motors. The only thing different is the 55t where Novaks with the little "fets or caps" on them. Would that be making the difference?

Here is what Im using
Futaba 3PK in HRS mode with fasst
FX-R
45T integy motors
CC BEC @ 6v
3Cell 2200mah 30C

When your using the 55x1 motors what is your drag brake set at when you feel it works optimal for you? If it's a fairly high number then I would say it's possible that your ESC may have something wrong with it. Do you use the same pinions between the two motors? If you use larger tires and a higher tooth pinion gear that will put more leverage on the motors and would require the ESC to apply more drag brake to do it's job.

To test the ESC you would really need a second one to compare it with but it's a stretch to find one available in most cases.

Contact Tekin and see what they have to say. It's an odd problem for sure and wish that I could see it in action personally.

Another test to try would be to plug in the ESC to your 3C but keep it turned off. Then rotate your rear tire forward and see if you have any resistance. The ESC should make the rotation of the tire feel like someone has the brake slightly on. If that is not the case then I would say that it could be the wiring. It's a shot in the dark anyways.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Yeah I've tried everything. I have another new fxr in my mini I might try. Im using the same pinions, stock berg ones. And for tires Im running the new losi comp claws. I have the DB maxed out to 100. I thought maybe it was too much so I also tried it at 32 like you where running, same stuff happens. How do you have your berg wired up? Could you sent me a diagram ? Maybe mine is messed up.

Thanks for all the help !

Did a factory reset. Still programs in reverse. Works though, just have to reverse the throttle on the radio. I plan on getting a Hotwire though. This is not my last FX-R so it will come in handy.

I have to hold the throttle on a little to "set" DB to work.

This is telling me your Nuetral Width is too narrow. Open up our NW setting to max, recalibrate your radio and see how your DB is then.

The little caps on the motor are there to prevent radio noise, nothing more.

Thats what I was thinking from reading other posts. How do you adjust that? I know you can adjust it on the FX series but not on the FX-R correct? I was trying to find it on my 3PKS but there is so much crap on that thing, lol. Anyone know how to on the 3PKS ??

I just saw this... This answer the "NW" settin. They don't have the setting for the FX-R or the FX-R PRO

LED2: NEUTRAL WIDTH (FX/FX PRO ONLY) [FONT=CEMKOE+TimesNewRoman,Times New Roman]adjusts your dead band around the neutral point. A low neutral width value provides more sensitive trigger response around neutral. A higher value allows you to move the trigger slightly before throt-tle or brake is engaged.

With the FXR series you must have the Hotwire to set NW. I've got a screen shot posted:

That doesn't come up on my Hotwire ?? Maybe I have a old version ? I got the new software update for the esc.

Here is what my Hotwire screen looks like. Why is it different? Im I doing something wrong? This updated version I got in the email.

What operating system do you use? My guess is tha it's Vista. If that is the case your Hotwire is showing the current software but IT is an older version not showing you the current interface.

Check this video out for detailed instructions on how to remove the "hidden" file(thanks Microsoft) and installing the software:

I get the same screen as THAT1GUY with the updated Hotwire from the Email as well. Running Windows Vista x86 SP1 with all the latest updates.

Im running Windows XP with SP3. I will look for the tekin.esc file when I get home tonight. I'll delete it and start over.

Randy,
I'm running Windows Vista and the only tekin.esc file that I have on my system is under the install folder for the Tekin Hotwire. I've searched the system and went to the VirtualStore (which there is nothing in it BTW, nadda no folder no nut'n). I've uninstalled the Hotwire, removed the Tekin Hotwire folder and I'm still seeing not seeing the screen that you posted. I've even installed this to a Windows XP machine and am still not seeing the screen you posted.

Anything else to try?

I get the same screen. I'm going to try loading it on my desktop running xp. On another note, I right click on "brake profile" and see there is a custom setting. How do I create a custom setting out of curiosity?
