What happened to handshake agreements?

I've got a couple of steel pads wired to 110 and 220 and grounded to the lock set up so that they will get a little persuasion to not come back. Hopefully that stops the nightly visits. Afterward i will unplug them and store them out of sight. If someone asks about them, I don't know what happened. Must have been static electricity from the lock they were trying to pick.

You should put out a few deer cams. That way when they walk through and it flashes them they know you have pics of them. Just put it where they can't get to it and have another camera pointed at it so you get good footage of them trying to get the deer cam.

I find it so absurd that people can come onto your (anyones) property and commit crimes then sue if they get hurt. You should be able to put any reasonable defensive measures. One thing you could do just to annoy them is strategically place a few of those motion activated sprinklers. Also it will give you a nice wet path to follow them if you want.

Just had an SUV back up to my building and drop someone off. All three doors that have padlocks were tampered with. The person ran into the woods and toward the highway. They didn't get in any of the doors but it concerns me that they borough an SUV into my yard. I would like to go a week without having to stand in my yard with a gun and chase these people. I am going to call the police and see if anything can be done since this is escalating and if they give me the run around like last week the next time I call it will be for the pickup of a body. I hate to put it that way, but that seems to be the only way to get something done in this county. We reported fully automatic gunfire about a week ago, over a thousand rounds fired in twenty minutes (estimated given the number of clip changes) called 911, the dispatcher could hear the shots over the phone, officer arrives an hour later with shots still being fired and he says he cant hear anything. You could smell the cosmolene in the air! I know what assault rifle fire sounds like and what it smells like, but nothing could be done? We'll see how this goes...

Sounds like you need a spike strip.

How is that electrified plate/door knob thingy coming along?

If you don't have "no trespassing" signs up I'd put them up. Make it all legal like for the police report.

Me thinks he needs to put one of those cow zappers for electric fences on the locks.

Dont tell them that, just do it. You'll never have an issue with this mess again. "thumbsup"

Couldn't hook up the plates today, too much heavy rain. I was struck by lightning last Friday and don't want shocked again like that. The 240 volts is at a high enough amperage to fry a possum, so i think when i can hook it up it will do the trick. I have three no trespassing signs posted on the property in plain sight of traffic and anyone who enters the property. The SUV drove past all three when they entered and left. I wish i could have gotten a better look at the SUV when it left, but they had their brights on when they left so i couldn't get a good look.

Something is very fishy with this... I call bullshit.. You said the suv backed in and in the quote above you said the bright lights was on so you couldn't get a good look.. And are you a kid or a grown man.. Because I know if this was happening to me I would've done put a stop to it.. I'd put my 40 on my hip and when that suv came in my driveway I'd be out there with a baseball bat busting some heads.. And if they wanted to get froggy. Mr 14 shot would light there ass up. Don't be a puss protect your house, your family and your belongings.. You keep saying the cops are gonna come get a body but yet the thieves keep coming to your house.. I don't believe none of this.. Either your not telling the whole story.. Or your a sissy and scared to death... Something is fishy because this whole story don't make sense you said you moved your car into the frame of the camera then said nothing was caught on the camera.. You know you don't raise you thread count by posting in chit chat right :)

Yeah something definitely stinks about the whole deal. If auto gunfire is going off and the cops are called they are going to roll out more than one officer it is SOP.

The SUV backed up to the building and the headlights were in my face when the SUV left. I am a grown man and will do anything to protect my family but I'm not going to run into the yard in my boxer shorts and shoot blindly at something just to be shooting. It is clearly stated on my deed that discharging a firearm is illegal in my neighborhood, so if i shoot the weapon it is going to be with a purpose. The police still haven't shown up since we called at 11:15 local time, but at least it is recorded with the EOC that we reported an attempted break-in. The car is in frame of the camera, and nothing has been caught on camera since they haven't messed with the car since i moved it.
And yes last week i did get electrocuted when lightning struck my house. I was trying to call my mom to check on my baby sister and lightning struck the house and came in through the phone line. I was on a corded phone at the time and it lit me up pretty good. My wife took me to the hospital and they checked my ticker since i was having some pretty bad chest pains and i was released the next day. The official diagnosis was electrocution.

Aren't your workshop, storage buildings and vehicles an extension of your home in WV?

Not according to state law. Unless an intruder is in you home with a weapon, you cannot do anything but watch and call the police. Again, laws here are designed to protect criminals, not homeowners.

If the cops don't care about full auto gun fire then you aren't going to be hassled for a few warning shots no matter what your deed says.

J-Bird nailed it on the head. I have(NO JOKE) chased a ****ing thief, in my boxer briefs, romeos, and my 9mm ruger. That's all. THE SECOND I HEARD the piece of shit breaking into my neighbors truck, I was grabbing my gun, and out the door. I don't give a shit what laws in place. The piece of shits are trespassing/steeling and they need to be stopped. BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. No jury alive, would find you a guilty party of defending your home and family. We need to take this country back. It is run by thieves:evil:

Then shoot him and you'll be a criminal, problem solved.

I'm not a lawyer, but her is the basics of the castle doctrine for West Virginia.

Castle Doctrine

West Virginia has a self-defense law based on the castle doctrine, and is a “stand your ground” state, meaning persons under attack do not have a duty to retreat before using physical or deadly force.

The state’s statute specifies that deadly force can be used within the home or in any place a person has a legal right to be. However, the force must be proportionate and there must be a belief that the attacker or intruder may kill or cause serious bodily harm to oneself or others. Within the home, physical or deadly force can also be used, proportionately, to prevent a felony from being committed.

Burglary is a felony, and If i am not mistaken your "home" includes your car, and any buildings/structures on your property.

I am not advocating killing anyone, but if they are a continual threat, and the cops refuse to help. Maybe you need to do some more research into the ins/outs of the castle doctrine in your state. Call the NRA, or go to your local gun shop, I am sure they have a bunch of info.

Make it a head shot so you don't waste ammo.

But seriously, if that was continually happening at my place here, somebody would be getting shot.

Thank you punkfan for posting that. I printed out a copy so that the next time the police show up (which they did not last night) i can ask some more questions. I called the courthouse and no one there can clarify it either. I found the tracks where they left and the size of the tracks point to a mid size SUV like a grand Cherokee/explorer/durango size, judging by the width of the tracks and their distance apart. I have moved the camera to a new location and hope that we catch something new and more concrete that we can turn over to the authorities. I did manage to catch the punk and his parents on camera from the night that they came to pick up the tires. Clear shots of the punk in daylight from the first meeting and clear night vision shots of the parents. The shot even shows the woman peering into the side window of my Lincoln LS that is parked directly in front of the camera. I am taking the fingerprints from the window of the HHR and the camera footage to the state police today in hopes that something can be done.
