Got some more work done. I went and started to get the chassis going to see if everything worked. Got this steering servo 146Ncm at 6V. Got one for my F350 as well. When i went to mount the motor and GRU to the gearbox, i noticed the gearbox was stuck. The shaft wouldn't turn. So i took it apart and found this. The little gear on the left has a crack between two teeth and an extra tooth of another gear Here's the other gear with the missing tooth. So now i have to wait for a new set of gears from RC4WD. Patience, something i do not have lot of.... Got some bodywork done as wel. Wel mocked up anyway. The wheelbase on the trailfinder is just 1,5cm off. I'm not sure on the big tyres though. Maybe a little smaller... Off course any comments are welcome. Thanks for looking. |

I think the bigger tires look better then the small ones. Very cool looking build though. Really like the lengthened rear over hang, looks way better. |

I'm thinking the big tyres are here to stay. The filler is setting right now. Going to take quite some sanding to smooth it out, but hey, hobbies need to take time... Couldn't help but to see what this would look like lowered... |

So, i've got me a RC! Hooked everything up and believe it or not, it worked. Very limited flex in these shots, but i've taken the springs and the o-rings out of the RC4WD shocks, and removed all but 1 leafs off the leafsprings, and now it's okay (for now). I've also made some wedge shaped blocks to mount the leafsprings in. Now the axles are at a slight angle, to improve the driveshaft angle. Still a bit shocky though. I'll post a pic later. |

Been drawing up a new set of framerails for the suburban. Hopefully i can have these rails cut by one of our suppliers. The suburban body has a 15mm longer wheelbase then the original trailfinder. I could just saw through the TF rails and stretch them, or move the entire suspension more outward, but i thought i'd try to do it a bit different. Plan is to have the rails cut from 6mm stainless. Still a lot of holes in these pictures, there will be a little less, but i don't have all the parts in 3D yet, so..., well more of that later. Here are the pics. Let me know what you think. Thanks for looking. |

Thanks for the nice comments. I'm still very doubtfull of smaller tyres. I'm a big fan of the 1.55 wheels. Maybe i'll give it a try. I am planning on kinda crawling this thing too, so the smaller tyres will give less clearance. hmmm, choices, choices... If 'm keeping these larger tyres, the wheelaches will get cut a little to lower the body or droop the suspension some more. |

Go for some portals! That would be awsome. You'll get the groundclearense you need and then some! And I think it would look good! Or maybe you could go for compleet droop. you dont need that much space for the tires. |

Portals will always be an option, but i really like the scalelook of my current axles. I will definitely try to get max droop, but a little spring in it's step just looks so much better when riding. | |

| Yeah thats true. But you don't need to much flex. The 1.1 isn't flexing much without bending the hole chassi. Add more weight and us a frame that is very flexible. hehe

| Wheelbase Nice progress! Axles look great Did you lengthen the wheelbase for a Burbon body, since this shot above? They used the same front doors as the pickups, then you need space for a B-pillar, straigt door(no hump over wheel well) and C-Pillar. All before the rear wheel well. Grew up with '70s Burbons. Where did you get one in the Netherlands? Are they plentiful? Last edited by sweli; 09-07-2009 at 07:38 AM. |
