| side by side-Rastar vs New Bright LR3
ser3100: I figured I'd post the answer to your PM here so other folks can see the difference between the New Bright and Rastar LR3 (the black being the Rastar). The Rastar body seems to have more of the correct proportions of the 1:1. The green house is taller, hood longer. The wheel base seems to be approx an inch longer as well-and it has an interior. But there is a compromise-since the New Bright body does not have an interior and is more of a "shell", it is a more durable driver. The Rastar body has opening doors, hood and hatch and is more flimsy. Please do not mind my rather pedestrian New Bright build-it is a project I never finished. |

Sweet! Aside from bieng taller, it doesnt look that much different. Is it really wider than the NB one? If the NB body was on the TA chassis, how would it look?

Nice comparison, never thought the two would be so different. Sounds like the Rastar body is more for display or for driving -VERY- carefully. Sure looks nice though.

| Hey Thanks! The roof rack was a painful one-off so I will not be making one again in the near future! If you look back through the thread, you will see that I brazed some body mounts to the frame and screwed them into the body.

I've always loved the LR3 builds, but this is one of the best! I love how you put the motor and tranny in the engine bay haha The roof rack looks fantastic and the whole rig looks just like your 1:1! I'm actually thinking of converting my Jeep XJ to an LR3 soon. Mind if I take some of your ideas? |

The truck looks great! You did a fantastic job on it. I just picked up a Rastar LR3 and it is definitely not as durable as other bodies. What did you do about the hood/hatch/doors to keep them closed? I'm thinking of gluing some rare earth magnets in there to keep everything closed.

| I glued my doors shut. The hatch and hood will probably have a simple latch. As for the battery, I removed the 3rd row seats, drilled a hole in the floor and ran the plug up from underneath. Battery fits across the trunk compartment and will be covered with a panel similar to the cargo shade on the 1:1. Using a Venom LIPO.

Any trail pics yet? Almost done with mine. Just got the proline light bar attached to the top with 5 working lights. That should make for a fun night on the rocks!
