I think it's one of them Land Jeeps I've heard so much about. I think Nissan made them.

My dad has an 86', many family road trips in that thing. Don't know how many miles on it now, well over 300K on original engine. I'm looking forward to this, you have some talent that is for sure. Watch out n00b!

Aren't you building a Nissan Land Jeep for the RC4WD build off thingy? I seem to recall seeing a thread somewhere.

It seems all my threads become comedy. I barely have enough energy to build one. I figure if I were to build another one, it would cost eleventythousand dollars. I've spent a month on the sides, and they're still not finished. At this pace it'll be this time next year before I get to paint. Sigh.

Nissan did make a Land Jeep, it's called a 4Runner Leaf Jeep. It was made in 1920, when people wore onions on their belts, which was the style at the time.

n00b had better watch out. But he can't, he's got a Buildoff to win.

n00b's building a regular jeep too. I saw it in his driveway.

Oh man, now I have to build three more! Waaaggh!

Yours looks nice. Woodgrain looks pretty cool.

I've spent the last couple days spending 30 minutes in my workshop. I ran out of styrene so I decided to start scribing panels.

I made a few templates to make it easier on myself.

See? Panel lines. Much filling and fixing and scribing to still be done.

Need to shoot some primer so I know where I'm at in terms of smoothness. In other news, I think I need glasses.

I'm sure we can work out a deal sir. Make it tentyfive and we'll call it a deal. Glad you're liking it.

We have a lot here too, but they're steeped in salt. Unless you can find one from the west coast. Then they're perfect. One day I'll fly out there and drive back.

Once this one is finished I'll start a 100 so you have something to drool over. Check back in a year.

Bananas are in every smoothie I make. And I make two every morning in my Vitamix. Yes, I own an $800 blender. I'm dumb.

Styrene is a fun medium to work in. I found a local plastics supplier that sells .030 and .060 in 4x8ft sheets. For $16/sheet. I'm in cheap styrene heaven! I will literally never buy it at the Hobby shop again. I picked up 2 sheets of .030 because I really like making the same piece 3 or 4 times and making a styrene sandwich.

I wanted to give people an idea of how I scribe my panels. It's a little tricky, but once you get the hang of it it's pretty easy!

I always wanted to have the sharp angle of the window portions to be as close to the real thing as possible, and the best way I could think of was to build it as two pieces and bond it later. I built up a rough piece that I would glue to the interior side with a scored angle in it. This helps hold everything in the rough place until I can get the firewall, deck lid and roof together which will inevitably strengthen the entire structure. This way I don't have to use tabs that will lead to issues with the interior later.

Here you can see me cutting out a helper panel that I'll glue to the back.

I haven't glued it quite yet, but you can see it coming together.

Slow progress, but I'm really taking my time to do it right.
