Then it would be Class 3. Since I had the axles narrowed (thanksmyn00b), I had to do my own links. Rather than sleeve threaded rod, which would have been way too thick, I decided to splash out and buy my own tap & die kit. I got some narrow steel rod, made my own threads and went to town. Also, after mounting my leafs and shocks with some TLT brackets, and cutting away the extra material, I realized I had inadvertently made the perfect bumper mounts. Huzzah!

Today was a big day for Tiny Trucks. Most of the exterior detailing is done. I also tackled building some rear shocks. I couldn't find a 60mm shock that I liked, so I made my own, taking a page from n00b's playbook. Painted them to resemble the Emu's that I originally wanted. They're functional, and have a tiny internal spring inside them. I'm quite happy with them. Need to do up a set for the front next. Hope you're ready for this... Phew! So much to talk about. There's a few things left to do, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel. In regards to the grille, I had a reference shot of a 60 that the owner had blacked out the grille. I really took to that look and knew I had to do it on mine. I'm quite happy with how that looks. Gives the whole truck a "Raccoon-y" kind of look. The grille frame is backed with a sheet of wire mesh, then n00b's extended radiator housing. I textured the front bumper to give it a touch look. Initially, I tried cutting up a few bike reflectors I had sitting around, but they were too thick and looked awful. I opted for a piece of lexan that had a natural bend in it. Perfection! I plan on putting the rest of the interior and windows in shortly. I'll be tinting the rears and passenger windows. They'll all have a rubber surround so they seat nicely. The tailgate still has the most work ahead. Realized that I forgot to get MTHead to do up the rear nameplate and 4wd badge. Darn it. We're getting there! |

| Re: Land Cruiser FJ60 Thanks very much. It's taken so long to get to this point, I'm happy to see it taking shape. Oh, Gullivers will be chuffed, you can count on that. |

I was telling my dad about this build since he drives a 60 as a daily driver. I think you should change the color, white (although a bit plain it was a factory option) or there is one at work that is a nice charcoal grey. If you want more along the lines of your color maybe a little more tan-ish? Too much yellow tint to it. The build turned out fantastic, very accurately detailed. Are the tires a definite?

Dear Mr. Guy, I don't like how you built your toy truck. It does not suit my personal preferences. Please alter it to satisfy me. Thank you, Arthur Noobman Jr. |

I made up a WeatherTech SUV bed liner for the rear. Made sense to have something to protect against muddy toy trucks being tossed in the back. Hey! If it isn't Turk Winklestein! How are you, old friend? FYI, this is Turk #2. Original Turk still drives his Turk. What that means is these two trucks can never be in the same photoshoot. Glass is in. I tried tinting, but not so happy with that look. I'll redo the back window to include the glass heater lines as well. Just a few more details on the tailgate and I'm almost finished. Just have to trim the inner lip of the tires, add some scale bolts, and electrify this thing. The Raccoon found a raccoon friend. That's friendly.

| Re: Land Cruiser FJ60 Thanks my Bruiser dude. I take it you like. ;) I've got three things left to do. Fabricate a rear bumper and put on the licence plate. A few details for the rear and I'm finished. Headquake very nicely pointed out that my front fender and clip was too long. I took a deep breath and cut it. Scary stuff. But much better for accuracy. Thanks Rick. I'm glad you said something and I'm glad I did it. Put all the rubber surrounds on the windows in as well. Home stretch! |
