I went to the hobby store today and got more supplies for this build: -Good quick CA glue and CA gap filer. -Black styrene 1.5mm for the outside body stretch. -Black styrene 2mm for a clean solid floorboard. -styrene strip for inned bed raised strips -styrene "L" angle to do some brackets -ABS rectangle tube 3/8 x 1/4 to do the lower side panels (I want similar shaped clamped over metal rock rails but wanted the body to be proper under anyway) -Stainless Steel stock sheet .012x6x12" for the side body armor. -ProLine body, 4dr JK (I will cut it for parts, the windscreen window, the fenders as well as the front grill.) (paid 40$ for it new and it would have cost more than this just to get a JK grill alone) Looks like I got all I need to finish the body work. On a good note, the Proline JK grill will fit my NewBright TJ body without having to widen the body. The Proline JK is slightly smaller than the Axial JK. Also having the full body, I will have bunch of extra surface around the fender to secure then nicely to the inside of the TJ body without having a headache making brackets and stuff to hold them well. I like the idea of a hard body with Lexan fender, it should help keep it clean when run against stuff.

I got the body stretch side panels closed up nice and clean. Styrene 0.75mm fitted back plate caped with a fitted 1.5mm black styrene outer. The 5 seconds CA glue and Gap filler are working great and are strong as hell. I also did a styrene piece for the little ridge below the windscreen air intake, its not glued yet, I want to lower it some more. I also fixed the rear angle where the body tapper down, it was too much at an angle, now it will match the rear of the JK fenders properly when I cut the wider/longer fender wells to replace the TJ rears for proper JK rears. That body look way too small for now with the 2.2's. |

I think it will look better and more accurate when I replace the rear fenders and finish the bottom sides.

After trying to find possible config for the T-case/spur using stock stuff and keep the body low I gave up! I ordered a GCM SCX Mounts Combo Kit that include a T-case that will hopefully allow me to get some stuff moving forward. their site say the new batch will ship on the 13th.

Dang! After all that styrene work too! Well gcm makes some bad ass stuff. Did you opt for the dual servo mount?

I bought that GCM so my body can fully shine. I did not opt for the dual servo, just single for now. I will go with the remote winch since it will be more for look than need based on where I run.

I also just orders a set of MIP drive shafts. I figured I needed an extra one for the 1:1 t-case, so might as well. I'll use the axial reinforced from front to 1:1 and the MIP on the axels.

Yeah, using some heavy styrene 1.5mm thick, 2 layers of it with seams at different places so it stay strong. I can take picture of the inside so you can see the patch work I did. I am also using a Lexan hood and fenders on this rig. Update of the work I did this weekend to come... |
