Thumbs up 1.9 eBay Jeepster

Hi, i'm new here and also new to RC. I have a background in scale modeling 1:25 scale, I also own a JK unlimited Rubicon. After having a kid, money is scarce for the 1:1 jeep mod, so I was super stoke when I discovered the latest RC cars and jumped into it.

I got meself a SCX10 RTR Jeep thinking it'd be enought for a long time...

then I got the bug...

custom metal 4 links front
custom metal 4 links rear
custom metal 2 stearing links
3 sets of wheels
1.9 axial stockers on maxxis trepador
1.9 axial beadlock on proline Flat Iron
2.2 GH racing aluminium beadlock (custom black center) on Swamper
95mm proline scaler shocks on long springs
Vanquish shock mount razors
Axial ax-10 hub carriers with more offset (needed for my 2.2 wheels)
machine alum servo arm
custom material roof
custom material trunk cover
Raised fenders front and rear
custom metal rear quarter panels
Axial 6 led lights and controler
custom paint here and there...

I have owned my first RC for only 3 weeks...

well... the NB 2 doors body I bought today is not a JK, its a TJ, so I cant do the Ebay Jeepster with that one shell. I contemplated widening the whole body by 1.5 inch and then stretching it past the door also... seems like a lot of work when I could just source a NB 4 door JK to start with. I could use the TJ to do a LJ I guess.

look at what the wrecker brought over!

IMG_1918 by Marc Brassard, on Flickr

lots of goo gone and finger nails action to get all f-ing stickers off and lots more sanding with 400 grit to get rid of the brown shit they spit over that body, fun fact, it now look rusty.

Eugene is giving a hand, looking at all the nasty bits we'll need to rework and relocate...

IMG_1922 by Marc Brassard, on Flickr

plan cut, will stretch the tub 1.5 inch and do the ebay jeepster but with a TJ on 2.2, not fully accurate, but it will have the same presence!

Wanted to do more this week end but I had to go pick up a playhouse and clean it for my daughter, she pass first.

I managed to cut the front on one side exactly like It needed to. The body still need longitudinal cut and 1.5 inch stretch past the door. I am also very tempted to widen the whole body by an inch... what you guys think? widen it an inch or not?

i used a few tecnics to acheive all these cuts.

front grill removed with treads... slow and very accurate, not wasted material from the cut.

Side steps removed with dremel thin cut then ground with dremel sanding bit 120

I also used a dremel metal tip to do the radius on the fender cut.

all cuts are finished with 120 and 240 grit by hand.

I'm looking forward to move forward on this project given how well it starts.

Look good so far, do not widen the body....usually looks not right imo.

i am thinking a dual splits to add an inch of width under the seats on both sides, the jeepster is wider than the tj i am starting with... dilema. (an inch total add, half an inch along 2 cuts. I figured it would keep the proportion better than a middle split.)

These are the only ones I've seen that are somewhat modeled after the Nitto Mud Grappler. They are only 4" tall, but that might be all you need. Out Croppers 1.9 Scale Tires

Thank you for the direct link. I'll have to contact him in private since i only need the front grill gut. I plan on putting fancy multi led flash lights buckets in it.

The actual wheels on eBay1 are ATX Beadlock Slabs. I don't know of a similar scale set for 1.9, but there may be something.
