Oh boy, this won't be a shelf queen for sure! I would not go through all that hassle building a custom RC if I wanted to just look at it. I used to be doing 1:25 scale models and gave up on it because I hated how they all became shelf queen once done. I'll just try not to trash it on purpose if possible.

On another topic... Damn K44 are sweet axles. I think my stock SCX10 axles are too wide for this build. Should I go all K44 crazy on this?

I am beyond jealous of this vehicle! Love the sliders, that makes my life easier to secure the body and protect it.

here's a pic of 1:10 eBay1 tonight just for fun. I am waiting to receive stuff to move forward, going wheeling this weekend up in the mountains with BC jeep club so it might be slow on the rc for a few days.

I just ordered a shorter MIP spline for the rear since I shorten the links and the stock MIP length was too long, only 15$ for the part. With the long arms in front and short rear ones, I am still at 12 inches wheelbase.

Small update:

I bought the castle link
Deans connectors

but most important... Buddy at work bought a 3D printer (maker bot replicator 2) and keep it at the office. I got free access to 3D printer, and I am a career 3D artist... tonight I'll be creating some parts to print tomorrow. Door handles, Tail lights buckets, dash and inner doors.

this build will be taken to the next level!!!

Build is looking awesome! ...and super lucky with the 3d printer that will definately take your build to the next level.

Where do you work? I went to school in Van, but work at Animal Logic in oz.

...Looking forward to seeing the next phase of images.

I work at Next Level Games as a Lead Artist; We only work for Nintendo. We recently completed Luigi Mansion 2 aka Dark Moon which was a Miyamoto project.

I have this huge dilemma now... Do I print the stuff I need to complete that body. Or just use this one as a rough template and model/print a full 3d body, panels by panels. Money is not a problem on this one since I built the 3d model and only pay for the raw material to print it. If I make a 3d model for a full body, I could print as many panels as I want and do molds. Its kind of a business opportunity combining a hobby. Its very tempting... hummmm. I'll keep thinking about it further.

still, part of me want to use the hack body I spend countless hours refining. See it completed, even if its to be replaced by a 3d print later.

Finish the hack job, use it as the running body while you work on the 3d printed one. I'm currently saving for a maker bot myself.

18mm 3d model for the 3d print, close enough given the resolution.

after some light sanding. I am sure the primer and paint will cover all imperfections. That was the smallest detail I had to print, all the other stuff should be much nicer being larger.
