very clever on the frame side panhard mount. I never thought of grid paper when "unfolding" the parts. It seems like a great way to keep everything scaled properly.

I need to trim the doors down to segway into the rear section of the body. This is the line I am thinking of cutting at, any thoughts?

I finally did a quick set up of the mill I bought like a month ago from Chris the Battery Man (Creation Fab), and tried to figure out how to use it...

I was planning on welding a 1/16" piece of plate steel for the servo mount, but the local hardware store only had 1/8". So I found a scrap of Delrin and started cutting it up. I really didn't want to have to use cutting oil my first time operating a mill, so Delrin was the "go to".

I wasn't exactly sure how I needed to mount the servo, so after lots of trial and fitting I ended up recessing the servo into the Delrin and bolting it up backwards. The fit came out perfect, and everything just barely touches at full compression.

Got the Dinky RC lexan door panels fitted, not sure how to mount them permanently yet...

Thanks, I am really liking how it's taking shape! I couldn't have done it without all of the help and opinions of my friends who wheel 1:1.

Personally, I am not a big Jeep fan... And finding a hard body that allowed room for the amount of caster I run was difficult. This body is working out great so far!

Its a Foreign Jeep, a little too close for comfort lol

For electronics I just picked up a Tekin ROC412 and the new RX4 ESC. I have a good used BRXL and 16 turn expert motor, but I figured this build needs to be all new and cool.

The front winch is going to be a Hitec 7950 Servo winch directly powered by a Mamba Micro ESC, should get the job done

The headlights are on loan from RcBros... NIP Hand Bros Triple "sun spot" lights. These lights were hard to come by 4 years ago... Badger's Vaterra Twin Hammers 1.9 Rock Racer

Got up early to start working on the transmission this morning

More progress on the transmission last night. I forgot that I drew up the design to use the AX10 transmission as a transfer case, so the output was at a sharp angle. I drilled another hole for the output to be lower and should work well. If I want to switch back to an AX10 transmission as a transfer case I can just use the other hole.

I'm heading to the local hobby shop today in search for a dogbone shaft 1 1/2" to 1 3/4" long for the coupler between transmission and transfer case.

Next step is to cut away all the excess material of the transmission and relocate the threaded spacers for it.

Question for the rules guru's: Is the motor too exposed? There is rule about how the motor can't show, but the Toyzuki kits have the motor half exposed. I plan on painting it black if that helps at all...

Had a busy weekend and didn't make a whole lot of progress on the truck, but I managed to get the transmission mounted, driveline made and electronics placement figured out.

Drilled and tapped some spacers for mounting the transmission.




Used a VERY short SDI4x4 drive shaft to the transfer case.







The RX4 fits perfectly right next to the motor. There are holes in the bottom to screw it down, so I will mount tabs to the frame for that.




I am going to use 2 1000mah 2S lipos in series.



And last but not least, I FINALLY got a work bench in my garage. Now I can do some serious metal working/fabricating at home.

It's funny that you mention fire... I was planning on milling down the bottom of the diffs, but melting them flat and trimming off the excess will probably work a lot better!

I drove it for the first time on Monday. Wheel speed ended up being perfect. I did ZERO math on what KV motor I need with my set up. Everything fitting so tight, my pinion options are 12t or 13t lol.

Right after I drove it, I tore it down to the frame to finish welding. I should have an RTR weight for you by Monday... Cutting it WAY too close!

p.s. Is it cool if I just bring your XR parts with me at Scale Nats?

Got the chassis finished up finally. Threw on a couple coats of Rustoleum Gloss Black.




While the paint was drying on the chassis I went to town on the SSD axle cases.

I heated up a piece of flat steel on my stove top, then melted down the plastic till it touched the ring gear. A few minutes with the dremel sanding drum to clean things up.








I picked up some .125" aluminum sheet for battery trays/skids.




Here it is almost ready to run. Just need to mount the lights, paint the body and finish wiring the winches.
