Wow, those rig kits aren't cheap! Glad you were able to sell off the other parts of it. Awesome truck, cannot wait for video. |

They're not cheap, but worth every penny. Having 3 speeds simply rocks. Not only do I have a road gear for cruising up to the rocks, but if I get into a situation where more wheelspeed is called for, just bang it up a gear (or two). I'm a little surprised the outrunner is able to cope with the weight of this pig, but it does just fine (although it does bog down in tall grass). Dunno, Cory. I've got a trail ride thingy coming up on the weekend of the 22nd here in Cleveland, and racing most other weekends, but i'm sure I can squeeze you in somewhere. I'm pretty sure I don't want to drop this thing off that 12-footer, though Last edited by microgoat; 07-07-2006 at 03:50 PM. |

Stu, if you really wanted to squeeze the performance out of the system, use 9 cells and keep the heat of the motor under 180F and the esc under 160F. The little park motors can really pack a punch when you get them closer to the max recommended operating limits. You gonna cover the back end any more? |

Bravo! that looks awesome! Brushless motors have amp draws that go down as volts go up. A 3s (11.1v) pack on the 400 works really well on planes, so I don't see why it wouldn't do well here with the amount of reduction you have. I would give it a try if you have a pack and run your ammeter on your truck while you crawl it (you have a nice flat bed to stick it too temporarily). I believe the 400 is a 15amp max draw @ 11.1v, but check to make sure. (I come from flying electric planes for 15 years and lipo's since they came out. I also used sensored brushless when they came out as well) |

It's an idea. There's plenty of room on the left side to squeeze 3 more cells in. The motor's not even getting above ambient temperature, and the Mamba's barely warmer. It sure does squeal, though! Cosmetically, it's finished. BTW, it's fully functional again. There's a 645MG steering it now, with a Kimbrough servo saver. Last edited by microgoat; 07-07-2006 at 06:56 PM. |

Well, Ben, I've managed to turn your lightweight chassis into a 7-pound truck All that sweet scale detail has a price. |

There's 3 oz in each wheel. The cab weighs about a pound with mirrors, glass, seats, dash and snorkel. The 3-speed is nearly half that, then add another tire, the fuel tank, the side skirts, air tanks, third driveshaft, fifth wheel, the short frame extension to mount the cab, the rear cab mount, spare tire mount, bumper, cab hinge, and probably half a pound of screws holding it all together. It's a pig, but I'm sure a 1:1 1838 isn't a featherweight either |

I should have some video soon of the Mog running over my touring car in between heats today. Bear in mind that I don't know how to edit video, so when I get it, I'm going to pass it straight along, no music or anything like that. You may want to turn down the sound as the Mamba is kind of noisy |

Forget hauling crawlers. With the outrunner's torque, the 3-speed's reduction, and all the weight giving traction, it'll damn near pull my 1:1 Ranger around btw, my earlier top-speed estimate was way off the mark. I was under the influence of BB-51 enthusiasm or something. The correct top speed is 6mph in third gear, which if you math it out is 84mph, since this is a 1/14 scale rig. SUre doesn't look like 84mph, though |
