A rig like this designed for TT needs Wraith axles honestly. Otherwise looks awesome!

I have thoguht about going with wraith axles, but i reckon they will look too wide relative to the body. But mgiht be on the cards in the future. | |

Graphics, maybe no, well placed sponsor stickers...yes. Simple, clean, just a few. A couple product stickers here and there add realism...shocks, ram. K&N etc. My showtruck was supposed to be over the top. If you never saw the inspiration, here you go. http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/att...1&d=1281553210 http://www.scale4x4rc.org/forums/att...1&d=1281553122 And yes, my rig! http://i1236.photobucket.com/albums/...k/DSC_1173.jpg I drove past the shop in Virginia and nearly soiled myself when I saw this truck. You can see where the inspiration came from for sure! Build what makes you happy. That's all that matters in the end! We just love to see it all. Keep up the work and post up! Another smallish update. But finally it's looking like a truck! only took a bit over 6 months. Got the body stickered with alot of help from the missus (i suck at getting them straight and even). I decided to mount up the winch, i know it will probably die the first time i use it under heavy load, but it looks cool none the less. The next step is to tare it all down, sand blast the chassis and repaint or maybe powder coat. But i'm be away on holidays for a week or so so no updates till late next week. It's so close to being ready i can almost smell it |

Thanks Pajey. I'd love to be going to TT, but 99% sure that it won't be happening. :(

Curious what radio you use . Looks like a 6100 orange RX hanging there? Your build is awesome. I put it at the top of the scale rigs I've seen |

Thanks guys. it's turning out alright for my fist proper hardbody build. Pretty happy so far. Evan, i'm running a dx6i, and yep this one has one of the orange recievers. Whats everyone thoughts on motors? i have a 18.5 turn novak in my 1.9 scaler it only gets run on 3s. Given how heavy this thing is (easy 10 to 12lb, 5 or so kg). Is it worth switchnig motors? i'm a little concerend about the motor temps getting too high on 4s. |

How can your rig weigh that much? I've got heavy duty everything in my southern buggy and a ton of tubework, and mine weighs 11 pounds with weight in the wheels! I am only running a little 3s pack though. I'm no help on motors. Read some threads in the other sections (motors and electronics) and see what you find. |

Just weighed it then. It's between 3.5 and 4kg (around 8 or 9 lb roughly). with very little electrics, no weight in the tyres, no driver, no battery, and no recovery gear on the tool box. 10lb may be close when loaded up. Virtually all the styrene is 2mm so there is a bit of weight in the body itself. I'll see when it's all back together. |

Thanks Doc It's been too long sicne my last update. Between gonig away for holidays and crap weather. I finally got around to painting the chassis, lowering the body, and trimming the body mounts. I painted the chassis in a machinery grey to begin with. It just looked way to dul. Seemed to take all the colour out of the body. So i repainted it in a bright silver. Looked pretty good. I didn't get around to taking any pics of the disassemble / re-assemble, i got kind engrossed. But there wasn't anything too mind blowing anyway. Heres a few piccies. Please excuse the crappy photo's, i'll get some nice outdoors ones when the wether get a better. I decided to set the winch up, despite it not being strong enough for this rig. The next lsit of things to do, based on a 5 minute drive around the living room. Some serious shock tuning. I haven't had that much torque twist since the first stock ax10 i ran about 6 years ago. I think the motor may be on the way out (after the revs pick up to make, it's almsot like it's bouncing off the redline ). Possibly some foam tuneing also, will see how it gos on the rocks. One thing is for sure, it's damn fast I think i'll also be getting the chassis powder coated soem time soon. the paint (even after about 4 days to dry) was still super soft, so it's scratched / chipped already. After it's all running properly, i'll then get the lighting sorted and a few other finished touches to the interior. |
