Default southern buggy build for Hwheeler73

I've decided on a name for this buggy. Kratos.

In Greek mythology, Kratos or Cratus (Ancient Greek: ??????, English translation: "power") is the son of Pallas and Styx and the personification of strength and power.[1][2] Kratos and his siblings--Nike ("victory"), Bia ("force"), and Zelus ("zeal")--are the winged enforcers (sky tides) of the Olympian God Zeus. He makes an appearance in Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound, in which he is one of the trio that binds the titular Titan, the other two being Hephaestus and Bia.[3]

It'll be interesting to see where the windshield lines come in. Is there any general inspiration? Rage, showstopper...etc that any of the design aspects were taken from? I'd be curious.

I sent him a bunch of pictures and pointed out the different points that I liked about each one. I must've sent him 20 or so pictures! Lol! I'll admit, I'm getting really excited! It's looking more like a buggy every post! I'm interested as well though if he chose one above the others as a main inspiration.

It sucks, he offered to meet up with me and show me his "work in progress" but I'll be damned if I can get through there!

Honestly I keep referring back to Rickybphotography.com for inspiration. I'm looking at pretty much all the tube chassis bouncers on there.

The offer is still there if you can make it back this way.

I grabbed a screen shot last night from one of my subscriptions (madram or bustedknuckle) and it made me wonder. I saw a few tube lines that seemed similar.

I don't know if I'm digging the "cab" tubes being so upright on the "windshied" portion. I like the looks of a more laid back sleeker cage. That's my two cents. Best advice, tack it all and stand back, drink a beer, stare at it for a few days, and then move forward. If it doesn't work, pull it apart and give it another go. The best thing I ever learned in this hobby is...there's no rush. Mainly because once it's finished...the fun is all over. That's why I have wraiths to drive, scalers to build, and for the really cool builds...time to spend.

It's like having a classic car in the shop. It wouldn't be any fun if you finished it over night! Warren, I just bought you time. Jesse, by Christmas it will be almost done. Have fun with it boys! And don't rush it. It's gonna be killer.

Wow! Thanks a lot Greg! With friends like you, who needs enemies!? LOL! I guess I have to agree with you though about taking the time and enjoying the building itself. :-)

I've built a lot of things in my life, from houses to RCs, furniture and a bunch of crap I can't mention. I always have a vision and a plan. But...it's always the distant onlooker that says: Why did you.........????? And I stand back and see it in a different way. I've always said, if you follow my builds and blow smoke up my A$$...that's fine, but when you tell me it looks too wide, too tall, too black, too blue....that's when I start checking myself. I can take the advice or disregard it, but I'd rather have the advice and know that I might have a better perspective with another view.

Man do I get wordy late at night!

My dad always told me that old saying that "Opinions are like a$$holes, everybody's got one!". But he told me to listen and think about what someone else says. At worst, you loose a few minutes of your time. At best, they show you something that you didn't see before!

Southern buggies are tough enough by nature. To copy one is one thing, but to pull one together with only your imagination and some inspiration isn't easy.

Lue (Mattzilla) and I played one day and he wanted to build a southern buggy in one afternoon. By the end of the day, we had what looked like a paperclip that fell in the garbage disposal!

Again, this thing will come together.

Ok, so Warren has been working his butt off on this chassis for me and hasn't had time to upload any updates. He's been sending me pics though so I thought I'd give an update.

Yes he does! I am seriously amazed by his work! When I told him that I wanted him to build this chassis for me, I told him that I obviously wanted it to look real and as far as the design went, all I had in my head was flames in the cage somehow! He did it!!!!
