The drifter on the table, or the '57 on the floor, haha. either one, no, no thread. I just started the drifter body, wider fenders to fit on the chassis. Eventual plan is to make a mold off it to make a plug to vac form a final body to use and abuse.

After pulling another cross bar out, I got the esc mount tray mocked up in posterboard, then made in 18ga steel, and brazed in. -Derek |

As if right now I'm planning on painting the cage Lime Squeeze, itsa Polaris color on a few RZRs. Then use Axial gunmetal links, and to paint panels that I'll be making later for it gunmetal as well.

Make yourself a jig or bender using tips from here or videos on YouTube .. Then bend both bars at the same time ... For opposite bends use something like a coat hanger or pipe cleaner to copy one and measure the opposite side .... Measure 12 times lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

On bars that only bend in one plane, I draw it out on the side of the full size side view I did at the get go and mark out where the tube bender will hit/sit, that's what all the sharpie marks are from. Then for the second piece, I lay them on top of each other and tweak them as need be to get them nearly the same. For ones that bend in multiple planes/axis I'll still draw out the individual bends, but I'll use the sharpie marks I put on as reference points when holding them side-by-side and just eyeball it really close. The pipe cleaner/coat hanger mockup is a really good idea as well. But yes measure a LOT. Why do you think I only get a couple bars in for each update, haha. I take my time measure multiple times, draw it out, then bend it. Trim the bar down to size, and use a combination of a flat and round file to notch the tubes for a nice tight fit. I'll grab a pic tonight of the side view with all the bends drawn out around it. -Derek |

Yeah, it takes some patience. Didn't really do anything on it tonight, but figured out how big to make the "engine" just a little poster board folded for visualization. Derek |

Making a template for a removable tray that will hold the servo winch, where it will clear everything (barely) and hide nicely under the fake engine and allow me to get a lot more detailed with the turbos. -Derek |

Got the servo winch mount buttoned up. Cut/filed slots into the tubes of the main rails, and brazed m3 nuts in. The servo's mount tab clears the motor by about 1mm -Derek |

Awsome fab skills and sketchings. Love the frame design too. It flows well and looks mean. You have to explain the silverado in the background. Its been teasing the whole thread.

As for the Silverado, that's one of my 5 drifters, an MST FXX-D S chassis, and the second drifter I'm doing as a single cab truck. The body started as the Proline ext. cab 07 Silverado monster truck body which is now discontinued (they still make the crew cab, but I needed the longer bed that the ext. cab has) cut the cab down, and started to mock up the prerunner style fenders to fit over the HPI LP32 and LP35 wheels and tires. Here's a pic of it when I started the body next to the other drifter with a single cab body, Proline crew cab 08 F250 that I shortened and have on my twin motored TA03 with 2 brushless setups in it. I haven't fired that one up yet though. I didn't get very far with it before I started the bouncer, I will get back to it though, and paint it to match my real 11 Silverado. So white, with a white grill and black bumper (started as a WT, and added the white grill). -Derek Last edited by SuperDrty; 03-22-2015 at 10:10 PM.

Got 2 small tubes cut bent and notched, but not brazed in yet. Most of the tube work from here on will be finicky and take time to get lined up just right. -Derek |
