I think they built the tranny like this on purpose, just didn't document it in the manual. give the tinkerers another tuning tool, but leave it up to them to discover so the new guy doesn't get confused with it. simple, yet a rather good idea once you think about it

EeePee....., thanks a lot man for this idea. I read the thread and I would have to disagree with those that say it does not work. IT WORKS!

thanks again!

well i just took my totally stock ax-10 and did 2 things, i mirrored the tranny, and reassembled spur in the rear and i took the 3 link in the rear and made it a 4 link. I can say i can already see a huge differance in torque twist.

now much of it is the 4link in the rear, and how much is the mirrored tranny is debatable. but it had Much less than it did whne i started.

will run it tomorrow and see how it preforms compared to last sunday.

well it was better today by alot.

not sure if it was the mirrored tranny and/or the four link plate i put on the rear, but TT was about 1/4 what it was, still have a bit, but not too much.

heres a few pics of the setup currently

and a couple pics of the course.

i also later ran a set of weighted claws. that to helped but i m going to concentrate on getting it going with as much of a stock setup as i can.

Cool, but the transmission is in backwards. You need to flip the skidplate 180 degrees. Motor goes in front, spur gear in back. Motor will be on the passenger side now.

ok the pics i looked at in the beggining of this thread showed the spur toward the rear i thought. unless the pic i looked at the guy had rear wheel steer, and i mistook that for the front.

heh. I know my way around a baja 5B inside and out, but im still lost on a bunch of the crawler stuff. lol

ok, i swapped my plate around last night, and a crawling buddy of mine said to move the lower links all the way in on the mount (had the outter most hole) and that too will help with the TT. i ll find out once i try it again.

Has anyone tried this with CKRC's Forward Thinking! "FT" Dig? Is it reversible? It looks like it would work but wanted to see if anyone else had tried it before being a guinea pig.

it can be done with one modification made.

Robbob's CDW

you need to drill out the piece the selctor slides into just big enough to fit the extra brass bushing that comes in the bag.

other then that one thing, it bolts directly up to a Mirror

(front is to the left)

Great thanks, I am trying to decide between the FT & the R2 but I think I would rather have the motor in this configuration for the weight benefit.

I'm no pro but here's my advice, if you can get the DNA dig get it, it moves the motor to the other side similer to mirroring the tranny and in my oppinion is a better dig not to rank on the FT as it works fine, but mine wore out the bushing and the alum disc it goes in on the out drive side of the dig unit to quickly for my taste. The DNA looks to have addressed the problem that wore out the FT. The DNA has a shaft the goes from the out drive side of the tranny to the out drive part of of the dig to keep them inline, that should elliminate the wobble that there is in it when moveing. I ran mine mirrored with the FT it works just fine it just wore out way to fast.
