Thanks for the text Nate. I knew I've seen this bearing size in my stash but couldn't find any in my roller tool box. I checked my ole TLT stash and found a few bags of these unopened. Thanks for the heads up brada'!!!

Exact size we're looking for

Fits perfect on the hex nut

and the hex out drive nut

All assembled!

Thanks Christian. I just realized, the internals of the HRD unit look like the DNA unit that you gave your midas touch.

Default bearing swap

...is that 5X8 2 mm or 2.5 mm wide? Bocca Bearing has both.

Gerame has video posted of it operating both mounted up in this rig and stationary so you can see it function. Check the HRD thread in the vendors section

I set mine up with a 8x5x2.5mm bearing, and white lithium grease, seems to be running good after some early tests.

Yeah, but from the search I did on their site, none of the available choices are sealed type bearings......maybe not so good for this application.

Still looking for the Tamiya pn#.

Throw some bearing grease in there and you will be fine. The tiny open slot at the top isn't that big of a deal. Tear it down ever few months if you are worried about it. Or use a small piece of thin lexan as a shroud over it. Don't get too hung up on that part.

Anyone else have any issues with it binding up a bit when you spin it after it's attached to the trans?

I see in step 15 ya mention if you tighten down to the trans too much, it'll bind...but I can barely even snug it. Possibly use a washer sandwiched between the dig case and trans case?

Ok, official problem was..........

The aluminum trans case

The trans case I was attaching the dig to was a GH aluminum and for some reason the dig binds up once both mount screws are even the slightest bit snug. I swapped the dig to a OEM plastic cased trans...and it works smooth as butta. I'm going to find out why the aluminum case wouldn't work though...:-(
