Thanks, it is the "duh" answer to those who know

Well you want a 50/50 chassis {like yours now} or a 60/40 {Fastback.}

Ive driven both, both are nice, that's that

Ok on my home-made 60/40 it was nice and the fun feature was if you were good at it, you could slam the gas with the wheels turned and "dig" the rig without a dig or alt. gearsets. Go with your gut tho, they got their ups and downs, I stuck with 50/50 but im thinking of a 45/55 chassis

personally I like the fastbacks look better, but if I cared about looks I'd run a body and I don't so that's pointless, I just want to get something that flat out works, and from what everyone says they both flat out kick ass... the only difference is you have to make your own links and change your link geometry...

Here's how I see it:

Gc3 comes with links and plates (yaay)
It is a 50/50
It uses a body

Fastback needs links/plates
It is a 60/40
It doesn't need a body!

My $.02: the fastback is super duper slick! So I'd go there personally but I can make me own links in my sleep plus Juan is a super nice guy that I've dealt with

Kinda the same idea I had... Bodies suck, juan rocks, 90 bucks for aluminum links and no body...

Things to do to get ready for sunday, assuming all my parts come in.

  1. Shave inner axle tube for ramrod install, drill axle housing to accept 3mm screw (thanks inkdaddy for the tubes)
  2. install custom machined c-hubs (once again inkdaddy thank you)
  3. remake upper linkage...
  4. shave big bore tops, drill/tap. fit revo ends on top. silicone in. Add losi-golds...
  5. assemble fastback II
  6. Mount D-link
  7. swap over everything to new chassis.
  8. cut .030 lexan to size for new chassis. decorate.
  9. test...

And hope like hell everything works properly.

Updates... Finally... Sorry!

All taken apart

Fastback II built up

Installing motor/tranny I had issues with the mounting location...

Clearanced the motor a bit... Still not enough to run anything larger than a 14t pinion... Need to talk to Juan about this.

Edit 8/11/11: The problem is motors that are 1.9 inches (I.E. motors with sealed end bells like the factory axials) weren't intended to be used with this chassis, the holes are drilled perfectly the problem is the motor choice.
I temporarly solved the problem by shimming the tranny up with 2mm hard rubber washers that were included with my big bore shock kit.

Got the rear linkage in roughly the right length, need to adjust for the crappy pinion angle.

Front upper & lower links made up. pinion angle also incorrect here too, adjusted later, made the gap between the inner ends of the revo's 53mm. Also bent them in after realizing that inboarding the lower shock mount & link caused clearance issues & binding at roughly 30 degrees of front axle articulation.

Stopped for a break after Getting the electronics mounted how I wanted them. Or thought I wanted them.

Receiver is mounted underneath the underground sticker with the antenna going back inside the loom. Mounted back there so I don't have to deal with a huge bundle of wire or remaking plugs.

Local Inkdaddy66 made me up some "RAMRODS" out of tool steel. MAS BEEF. (Think beef toobs)

Fit was absolutely perfect. No modding required, actually held my broken C-hub together quite well today without and issues.

Inkdaddy66 will also be making me a set of C-hubs. They're in the works. After seeing his C-hubs today.... I'm excited.
