2nd
I was really disapointed in the JunFac drive shafts . That have always served me well in my scalers . But they have more slop than I can stand on the comp rig . So I ordered so Wraith wildbores and plan on doing some mods to them .
3rd
With running the wildbores I will need to get the right gear sets or drill my pinion gears . Not sure what I will do yet .
4th
I'm going to rework the rear lower linking . They are kicked up to much .
5th
Save some weight here and there . Some of the mods listed about will help that .
Drill and tap the wild bores to take a 4mm set screw. Worked great on my sporty.

Well I got a few mins to work on my new drive shafts tonite . What I did was take a well used but straight Axail 98mm link and cut my some pieces . Everyone has some of these laying around, so it is a cheap mod . The two pieces where 1 3/4" long . I cleaned up the cut marks with a file . I then put a drop or two of oil on the peices and taped them into the male side of the wild bores . Even with the alum. piece they are very light . For those that don't know why I did this . I did it in hopes to keep the shafts from twisting .

some pics of the mod

wild bores before mod 29 grams

after the mod 31 grams

the JunFac shafts 48 grams

I ended up changing the arm out in my motor . The 13t 5 slot had all kinds of power . The wheel speeds was great . The lowend startup was not as good as I wanted . But I had it done for a class 3 scale rig . So lowend start up was really not needed . So I got John to make me up a 30t arm to go in my can . I will post up later on how it does .

lol Johns arm has power and wheel speed . That is all that matters .

As for the weight I'm not sure my links are in Pell City . I hope to have the new ones here early next week .

My new Tie links came in today . Big thanks to Nick (BTF) for getting them done so fast for me . I got him to do the front uppers/lowers and rear lowers . The rear uppers I where using are alum. so they are light .

old front uppers

new front uppers

old front lowers

new front lowers

old rear lowers

new rear lowers

Slowly losing some weight here and there . I hope my lockers make it in this week . I'm pretty sure that will put me under the 5lbs mark .

I got my felsenfest spools in today . These are some very nice pieces . They are vert light weight . I will post the weight of the Stage 3 lockers amd the new one when I pull the axles apart . I'm sure with these the rig will be in the 4 lbs range .

The Stage 3 lockers where 47 grams .

The new lockers are 12 grams with the 4 set screw for the axles . Now that is a big difference .

New RTR weight 4.91 lbs

My goal has been to get this rig under 5 lbs RTR . Looks like I made it, but darn . Light weight cost money to go slow or go fast . lol

Well the little rig done good at Nationals . First course I had a -4 , second course I broke the locker . Yep the locker, that locked up the front axle . It was before gate one so 40 . Third course -12 & forth course -2 . I think I ended up in 20th place . I was happy with the rig and my driving . But I was not happy with the set screw locker . Let us say there is some alum up on the Mnt . Oh yes I didn't try any of the bonus gate . My goal was to finish all courses . But that locker messed that up . lol

Well this rig was a blast to build . It was even more fun to take it to Nationals and hang out with old friends and make new ones . But now I remember why I walked away in 2009 . It is just to hard on me to try and keep up with a comp rig . My health is not where it needs to be . It has took me all week to get over last weekend . With that said this rigs has a new home as of this morning . I don't think I will be building another comp rig anytime soon . Thanks to everyone that help me get back up to speed . It was fun !!
