nice angle on the steering great pics. Gonna need to do something similar to my rig, as I'm not happy with the amount of steering I'm getting out of it now.

LOL, out of all that great work you say nice wheels.
Man, you are going to give everybody a run for their money this season. Awesome job.

Check out the RCBros XR beeftubes. They are hands down the coolest way to get XR steering on your rig without all the fab work I did to get it.

Thanks man.

If nothing else, I'll bring along my super cool "ball shafts" (patent pending).

They work much better than the standard "ball sack".

No fooling with jumbled up gates.

Less work equals more fun!

Post up a build thread.

Ask questions.

Helping out a fellow hobbyist is great fun....

I'd love to help spend your money on a new rig! Hahaha

Right now I'm battling excessive amounts of body roll/ torque twist after putting the SCX shocks on.

Seems to handle better than ever around the house ( trapped indoors with the snow).

I outboarded the shocks, which helped; but it still pitches side to side a lot.

I'm new to super soft spring rates.

Is it normal to have that?

Doesn't seem right, but perhaps I'm obsessing about nothing.

I'm running 22 or 30 wt oil all around, can't remember.

Thinking about bumping that up a bit to slow the suspensions movement speed.

Any thoughts?

Damn, outstanding work as always! And here I'm all excited because I can now drill holes straight, most of the time.

Got the ride height decent.

Still thinking about moving the body forward a bit.

Still messing with the shocks, but it's better than before.

Took another look at my steering even though it was working fine.

I wasn't happy with the drag link that had a fairly steep bend in it.

Not sure why I didn't mount it on the servo side of the arm instead of the outside.

Doing this really straightened things out.

Better geometry, and now only the slightest bend in the drag link.

Left turn. Everything is clear here.

Right turn. The servo horn just clears the upper.

Here are some views from the top.
Really glad I did this. The drag link is much cleaner, and in much better alignment with the steering arm.

Lots of clearance at full lock and stuffed.

The drag link is close to the shock at full stuff, but it's good.
Clearance on the tire/shock for hard corners uphill without any forced suspension unloading from the tire.
No rubbing in any position. Very nice.

EPA's are all dialed back, so it's a much better setup than before.

Steering has more power with the better geometry.

Three thumbs up!

Lowered the body a bit, and moved it forward just a tad.

Drives upside down really well indoors (darn snow and ice!).

I can steer it wherever I'd like, into objects, to flip it over.

It also recovers out in the open with a hard punch of the throttle.

Hope that translates into recovery outdoors.

If I ever see the outdoors again....

My sportsman rig paid a heavy price today representing the Eastern PA RC Rock Crawlers club.

Our rock garden at Motorama, in the PA Farm Show Complex, was a great success.

Thanks to Chris for all his help turning a tri-axle load of frozen, snow covered, mud packed boulders into a surprisingly clean, only dusty rock course.

Tons of rigs and drivers came out to compete, have fun, and promote the sport that we all love.

With recent snowstorms, this rock was in better condition than most up and down the East Coast.

But, as you can see, not so much in places left muddy intentionally for scalers to play in.

When you put the controller in the hands of spectators, they seem to find every last spot of mud and water despite our best efforts.

The dirt will wash right off, but the impressions this rig left in the minds of the lucky few, will be around for some time.

Any day spent crawling is a good day...right?

Wow... Just read through this entire thread for the first time, really enjoyed watching the progress of the rig! Hell of a job on all the custom work, really impressive! Can't wait to comp with you at Rausch this year and check out this truck!

Thank you sir.

Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your new rig.

Love that servo setup. Need to get a closer look at it.

Sportsman got a bath. I hate mud! What a pain in the ass.

I don't know how scale guys enjoy this part, cleaning sucks.

Looking better now.

Also, have a small update.

A good friend saw my hardware store preload spacers, and jumped into action.

Apparently, they just weren't "cool" enough, and he immediately sent me some replacements.

They are very slick preload collars, tapped for the SCX shocks. The ends are tapered and super clean. They eliminate the need for the aluminum nut.

Old setup.

New pimp collars.

Altogether, I'm very happy with the weight savings, and the new clean look they've given my crawler.
