Started with milling out the delrin prototypes of the modded rear shock arms with sway bar mount. They turned out quite nice. I hope to be able to send Tomi the drawing tomorrow.

Compared to the original rear shock arms

Mounted on the chassis

When the mill was out of the closet anyway I fab together a simple plate for the electronic. The version of the 4-link plate I got don't have a electronic plate, but it would be nice to have one.

Mounted on the axle

Test mounted the esc. I plan to have the reciever and bec on top of the plate.

Then I couldn't help myself, so I threw on some wheels and it is starting to look quite ok now

I do not have any body mounts yet, but I plan to mount the body something like this.

I also started to make some Magic Links to use as upper links for the rear. Not as light as ordinary carbon fibre links, but the length is a bit adjustable and the ball end can be replace when it gets to much slop.

I want them!!! whaha. They look to beautifull not to have in my car ;)

why not make some nice carbon lower links ;)

these Magic Links are also a very good idea, specially for the people who comp more than one time in a year

Thanks

I sent Tomi the new drawing for half an hour ago, so it should not be long I hope

Hmm.. there it is again... do people actually drive with their crawlers? Just silly...

Awesome work.
Thanks

Even though I dont drive much... I like to have the option to replace worn out parts atleast

You never know what the future holds

This is how they look on my sporty

I will look over the option to have the raw aluminum surface coated black. It would look much better imho.

I like the contrast between the aluminum and CF.

I shipped out the prototypes to Tobias a few days ago. He should have them early next week. As soon as he verifies they are a good fit, I can have them made for anyone who needs them.

Thanks Tobias for working this out!

Tomi
The postman delivered a small little package from Finland to me today

Thanks Tomi!

I didn't have any time to look at the parts today, but hopefully tomorrow or on wednesday.

Like I mentioned before I got a little package from Tomi the other day.

The CF sway bars mount seems very good

Tomi also milled a electronic plate for me. Before I sent Tomi the drawing I modified it a bit from my delrin version. I made it sligthly wider and tried to copy the design on the 4 link plate so it would look more uniform. Like the sway bar mount it fits very nicely.

Thanks Tomi

So now I have a roller

With the body mounted

Btw, if you noticed there is now a little blue star under my nick, so if you want a something "magic" in your chassis, look here

I love the NCD RC4WD transmission, but feel a bit nervous about having an open transmission. So... this is something that I have been thinking about for a while and tonight I finally got time and energy to start to design it. It is a bit of more work to do, but my cover idea is atleast visible

If people are interested and it works as I plan, I can offer these parts in my Shapeways store.

Great addition to that piece..... I like the sound reducing of the housing and keeping gear grease where it needs to be. I saw a standard one a few months back and it sounded like a LNC transmission. This looks like a great idea......

There, front axle atleast bolted together. There is still some work that is needed but I like what I see so far

With the narrowest SLW hubs (350) I get around 10.8 - 10.9" in width with LaaLaa Rovers.

The servo only sticks down a little bit under the axle tube.

Nice and low knuckles weights that sits as far out in the wheel as possible

This has to be one of my favorite build threads. Such a nicely detailed clean design. Never seen a sway bar used before on a crawler. What purpose does it serve?

I am also curious about your driveshafts. What are they?

The drive shafts is a propeller shaft from S.D.I 4x4.

The sway bar helps to prevent torque twist while still allows you to use soft springs for the suspension.

The build is coming along quite nicely

Around 10.8" wide in the front and 10.3" in the rear. The electronics will not be like that, I was just to lazy to solder it off the motor. I have also change side of the pumkin to better match up with the output shaft of the transmission box.

I was able to just transfer the old lower links and drive shafts, but I got to make new upper links and links for the sway bar.
