| Winner SPCA now open.. Taking in a Boxer
I guess one dogs never enough, have to have a second to play with the first.. So here's a CCC Boxer chassis an links, choker collar's, F/R link plates and Bulldog tranny.. Electronics: HH 30t 400 puller, HH Br mini w/ cc bec, HH V2 or 7980 servo.. Axles: XR mod.. ;) So Wednesday, I got mail.. A pile of Good's.. So with not much time after a 13-15hr work day.. I'll be wildling away at this bad boy when I can and to have it ready for the comp this coming Saturday.. This is where I ended up that night.. Had some gear lightening done before hand and wanted to get the loctite started to harden.. More to come as my day goes on.. |

Moving on.. Had a bag of Rcbros weights, so I snatched up a set of weight holders. I also grabbed these Dlux weights from eggbert.. We shall see which goes on this build.. I switched out most of the hardware in the tranny and chassis with aluminum hardware.. The bright red ano'd from Lattice Innovations, that BC-Brian hooks up in All kinds of colors, is Ridiculously a True red! Nice and deep and dark.. Hmmm, sounds like it should be pink.. I mean.. Oh Kay, back on track.. HH 30t 400 and optional 33t armature, for testing... And front axle.. |

Thanks my brutha! ;) I'm digging on it so far.. Changing stuff around already, too! Lol.. Which brings us all up to date on the progress this far on the Boxer.. Shocks... Scx plastic with machined pistons, 3 o-rings, an the Green Slime.. Had some shock collars around but realized I only had 3.. Hmmm.. Thankfully, I had some fresh ones from Notch Eight designs, in the long style.. (Which you can see in the above pic) I noticed I didn't need the full use of the long style and they happen to be twice the length.. Out came the dremel! I cut 2 down and left 2 long, for future use.. Not bad and work perfect! Next step, XR uni's.. Drive the little pin out, making sure to snug the bottom ear down in the vise (or it can break off) A little dremel work and back together (missed pics of this step).. Final product mounted.. Bulldog tranny.. Barry had this special order motor forward tranny sitting around.. So I decided to build it up.. This tranny fully mounted to the drive train, is So SMOOOOOTH, that I can turn the entire drive train with my fingers from one axle!!! Without a pin, hex, or wheel nut attached!!!! Try that with a stock tranny... I think, with the tranny mounted rear, the motor weight will be pulling down and towards the front of the truck. We shall see... Either way, I felt it have some extra choice in drive shafts and angles at the outputs.. Drive shafts.. MIP front, an modded (stuffed whole) wb8 rear.. A couple of this and that's left, but for now, it's a slider.. Electronics will be next step.. And a few more tweaks.. Hoping to get some rock time in on Wed.. |

It's not much, but it's what I got! Saaweeet little HH 30t 400 puller! The rig had such a crazy forward bias already, I'm not sure what for knuckle weight I'll run. I'm off the skid and don't have the rx, Br mini, cc bec, or a battery up front yet! |

I had mini-t silvers on and they are Soft! Tho the rig stuck to anything and everything.. I swapped the rears to mrc silvers last night. I'll throw a couple packs thru and see what it feels like. Then mrc silvers on the front for a couple packs.. Always, Only change one thing at a time.. ;) The mrc silvers are taller and a little bit stiffer. I don't like my front's and rear's loose. The tighter the better.. |

So it's been a few days but I've been on the rock's getting ready for the Big show! I've been thru spring changes and link changes with a couple dozen packs thru it. I'm running with zero knuckle weight and rtr weight around 1451grams.. 3lbs 3oz.. The chassis and tranny have been a pleasure to tune with very little to change and simple changes at that.. Like adding 2mm or so to spacing out the rear shocks away from the chassis to deaden TT to an absolute minimum. The mrc silver springs on the rear where a big step up, for performance. After about 8 packs yesterday and shaking the rig out, I had (at times) noticed the front passenger tire staying lifted on certain climbs or coming out of a wedge. So I switched to mrc silver springs in the front.. It went the other way.. Or maybe it was me and a lack of concentration after so long.. But I either have to go semi droop with the mrc springs or switch back to the mini-t springs and give a little preload.. I think.. Lol.. Anywho.. The rig is working pretty killer. I can only imagine the gain when I go for a little knuckle weight and continue the tuning. A little video to go with post #11 ClassiCutCustom Boxer testing: http://youtu.be/P6_C75aXdpQ And a couple pics from crawling to go with the "lift" I had on certain climbs (I think it may just be the climbs and no weight?) I start with the nose dropped down in the wedge. |

Thanks Barry, that was a tuff pro line when it was found.. The hardest part is the transition from ledge to slant to top.. Thanks Tom... Get one!!! You Will Not regret the outcome! |

Rausch 3 comp today.. 1st comp for the bad assness of the CCC Boxer! The boys got new collars today... After all the tuning, I stayed with the 3lb 3oz rtr weight and Zero knuckle weight. I now feel that adding knuckle weight would be a performance enhancer and Not a Band-Aid for bad tuning! The rig, even on the spray crete and grippy rock at Rausch, showed no signs of given up traction. Downloading video now |
