Nice truss & link mount, clean and simple. I'm looking at going a bit differently at using the ar44's. I don't have them in my hands yet but I'm thinking of longer axle delrin axle tubes and a dlux type link/servo mount. |

Yes,-the dlux type is a clever design,-do you think about an offset diff housing for the front with your plan ? :

I've looked at doing it 2 ways, both would be a bit wider than xr width to run less scrub at the knuckles. 1. Leaving the diff centered would be fine and easy but require custom axle shafts up front. 2. Standard ar60 type offset on the short side but shortened long side vs ar60. This requires only a shortened shaft so it would be pretty simple and cheap. Option 2 will surely get used on my rig since I don't feel like buying another long side FBA axle shaft from dlux.

Why don't you try some ultra OD/UD for some time? I had on my car during the Eurocrawl in spain and loved it. it will only hurt if you find yourself in some super grippy binding situation that you want to reverse.. Very interesting stuff you have going there! ;) |

It's very easy to change the gears in the Wraith axle,-so why not give it a try for sure But as you mention,-reversing would suffer even more,-but then again,-reverse it's not an option,it's a penalty..... :

OD gears are weaker than stock ratio HD or under drive. The gearing difference is fantastic but the front gears dont live long. The scx10II axle in the back and an older style axial front axle running HD stock would be a nice offset while still strong.

OD might be more fragile but they will still last... There are so many guys running them for so much time... Personally I never used so I can't really talk much about it. But as far as OD/UD in Spain I was using 25:1 in the front and 40:1 in the rear! So you can imagine how it was! And I have no regrets! The car ran great, it might hurt you from now and then but most of the time it's great! Your not supposed to reverse anyway!! Climbing, going down hill, turning is super... Give it a go Jens and lets us know how you liked it! ;) |

OD will hold up on an ultra light rig with a careful driver longer than a normal weight (6ish lbs or so) rig with a heavy fingered driver and big power. Which would explain why I can't make them last. I'll check my offset gear ratios tonight. I'm offset more than most people around my area.

I've killed 2 sets of overdrive gears. But like I said, I run a lot of power and drive like a 7 year old that just drank a red bull. I'm 35:1 and 42:1. Not bad for not using overdrive gears. |

I've never broke over drive gears either, running them ever since they came out many many years ago. If your breaking those then you have other issues you need to fix.

| Re: JENS' SuDuOne FL 2.2 Shafty Figured the first set was a fluke. Ran a brand new set in a dlux modded housing and they skipped like a slipper clutch on the 3rd run. Replaced them with HD stock ratio and haven't looked back. There just isn't much tooth contact since the pinion is so large and the ring gear is so thin.

I have broken 2 sets of HD gears (stock ratio) in my wraith doing the exact same thing WHITE-TRASH is talking about. A lot of fun but anything can break with enough abuse. When I broke my first set was right after I switched to Super 300 hds in my wraith. Then I shimmed the gear set and thought I was good to go and broke another (Pro4 3300 on 3s). Now it has been good for awhile after taking one shim out. Mesh is nice and even with good contact the way its suppose to be. Anyways looking forward to seeing this axle come to live no matter what ratio you plan on running. Keep up the good work Jens! |
