Well turns out one of the top knuckle bolt holes was stripped out and just being held in by the Loctite so a new front axle housing will be needed before I can run the truck on the 18th. Thankfully the housings don't cost a mint or I'd be a lot more pissed off then I was last night when I found the problem.

Plus side is I do have all the Leaf mounts needed to switch over to Axial axles, just don't have an extra set of Axial axles laying around.

Can you not use a brass insert to repair the threads?

I'll probably try to do that once the new case arrives but @ $24 I'll get a new case and keep this one as a spare once repaired.

My axle case finally arrived from RC4WD yesterday after 2 emails and only one response.
Well it's here, I guess that's what really matters.

I ordered up a set of Super Lift pinion angle shims from Horizon Hobbies on ebay which also arrived yesterday along with my Street League driver (same as in the f100).

Then my buddy Chris's wife made me a set of killer license plates for the two trucks, this one with my screen name and the other reads "N2ROCKS" for the f100.

Hopefully I can get the rear window painted before Nats in April, it's really the only thing besides wheel wells I need to complete the truck now.

Thanks for sharing the link Eric. I have the parts to do the mod so I may play around with the jacked up case and see if I can duplicate it.

I was able to work on the trucks a little bit this afternoon and got the new axle case installed and pinion angle shims installed in the Hilux.

Rear

Should be a little easier on the drive shafts now.

Took the Hilux for a quick spin on my test rocks to see how she'd do. The truck is quieter now that the drive shafts are at a better angel and the weight bias seems to be pretty good.
I'll have it out on Feb 8th for its first comp, we'll see how it really does then.

I got my scale driver installed last night. I decided to go with the same driver I'm using in my Class 2 for consistency.

Well the Yota axles are gone. After running the truck in it's first comp two weeks ago with the new front axle case I took a pretty good hit popping off an off camber gate and pulled the lower knuckle screw right out of the axle case. I guess this cast material is just too weak for comp use on our super grippy AZ rock.

I was lucky enough to get all the necessary RcBro SCX leaf parts when I purchased the truck so that is what I decided to do and have a new set of axles on their way.

Thankfully I kept all the parts from my C2 truck after doing the XR mod to it so all I needed to purchase for this one besides the axles was a set of OD gears.
I should have it ready to go for our March 1st comp so I can get some more testing and drive time in before Nats.

The Axial axles are complete. Front axle has Axial C's and Knuckles with OD gears and Extreme Duty RC4WD CVD's. The rear axle is stock.
Looks like I'll have to make some front fender flares from some old bicycle inner tube to get in spec, it's just about a 1/8" too wide right now.

Trenton gets most of the credit for this one Jon, I just finished up what he and Will started and took care of the details.

I've only driven it once really since I got it so this one is going to be around for a little while.

Massive amount of carnage at today's comp. I took two real good tumbles, one was about 8ft down a rock hill and the other was about 12ft and off a 3ft ledge. The body faired pretty well, I did crack the bed just behind the cab and cracked one of the joints where the bed was bobbed. Both are going to be easy fixes.
The other carnage was to the leaf springs. I realized today that the sticky AZ rocks are very hard on leaf springs unless it's just a trail rig. I ripped the front screws out of the rear leaf mount and bent the shit out of the front leaf spring when I got wadded up at one point.
The pics will show the carnage.

Front leaf spring

Plans are to go to links if I'm going to continue to run this truck in C1 or I'm just going to destroy it like it is.
If that doesn't work then I will sell it and build something else.
