Its the xr10 ones you want. The wraith short side may work as its like only 0.3mm shorter than a scx10 standard but I've always done it with xr10 universals, plus they are usually cheaper.

Several options in the vendors section ranging from $20-$55 for plain beef tubes up to splined beef tubes for this mod. PM'd you as well.

Thanks again for all the tips and advice with this modification. I have a good understanding of what needs to be done now. My (hopefully) last question is, will the stock steering links be ok to use with these hubs? Will i need any spacers to raise or lower the drag link?

The stock scx10 tie rod will Not work after you do the xr mod if you went with the wide beef tube, if you keeped the xr mod scx10 stock width your good to go.

My drag link and tie rod were both too short.

I have made a few links with 3/16 solid steel, so I just made a new tie rod and drag link real quick. I used standard size beef tubes with hand bros cms so I ended up being about 1/2 inch wider all together. I have not messed with the spline tubes so I don't know about those.

Now that you say that, I do remember reading on another thread that track width increased a half inch... So now i either need longer links or longer ends to get that extra .5"

I'm happy with the Vanquish chub, knuckle and VVD setup on all 3 of my rigs. The XR mod looks like it has way more throw, sort of unrealistic...

How much more throw did you get with that set up over stock percentage wise...

Both the Axial Universal (cheaper) and the Vanquish VVDs (rebuildable but more expensive) claim 50 degrees of steering or 60% increase in throw compared to dogbones.

Granted having the 8* chubs and knuckles help steering also so you're not fighting tire scrub due to the ackerman the stock setup has. Either way is a viable solution for increased steering.

VANQUISH VVD Axial SCX V2 VPS07031 ax30420 ax30366 ax30464
Axial Racing - AR60 OCP Universal Axle Set (Yeah its the wraith Universals, but the universal ends are the same just different length axle shafts)

And yes you will have to get new steering links but thats nothing too hard to fab.

Good to know. I went ahead and ordered the parts. I think i will take a stab at making my own tubes. Does anyone have the length and o/d? Also i tried to find a thread on this mod, no luck, anyone have a link?

Worried about realism while piloting rigs with spools in both ends and no center differential? Makes sense to me.

Where would one find the aluminum steering arms that bolt to the xr knuckles, pictured above??
