Default Need help/advice on first build

Hi everybody,
I decided to do my first scaled rock crawler build so I bought the scx10 jeep wrangler unlimited rubicon kit. I already bought the tekin FXR ESC, a tekin 35T HD motor and a castle creations CC BEC 10a 6S switching regulator. I plan on putting a functional winch, LEDs and rear steering as well. Is there any recommendations on what controller I should use and will I need anything else to operate the optional LEDs and winch?

Good ChoiceYou'd want to look into a 4ch radio somewhere along the lines of Airtronics or Futaba for example. There are more options out there just depends on your budget.
As for the electronics look no more Heyok has what you need.

Thanks haha. I just checked out his online store and his stuff seem cool but I don't understand the actual difference between the two 4WS's. To me it sounds like one is able to flip through modes by pushing a bottom while the other one uses switches. Is this because one is for a pistol grip style radio and the other is for a 4ch controller primarily used for helicopters? I would like to use a pistol grip style controller for comfort.

Maybe I can help make this more clear.
Some radios have a third channel with two positions. Some have three positions. If you were to connect a servo to this channel and make it move with the transmitter, it would go left and right with the two position channel transmitter. The three position channel transmitter would also stop the servo in the middle. You get left, center and right.

I make two versions of the four wheel steering controller so that you can use it with either type of transmitter.

The three steering modes are easy with the three position channel.

For the two position channel version, it works like this:
At start up, the rear servo is locked.
Push and release CH3 and the rear servo follows the front servo.
Push and release CH3 and the rear servo turns opposite the front servo.
Push and release CH3 and the rear servo is locked again... etc.

Hope that helped!
