Working on some sliders for this thing finally. Question for you guys. I'm building some tube sliders out of 3/16" cromoly tubing. I'm debating on what to do with the rearward portion of them. I've done the twin tube design with 45* bends at each end but want to do something different. My thoughts are a 45* bend up front like normal, run the tubes parallel but in front of the rear tire have ______

option 1 - with no bend out back ending in two tubes cut at an angle
option 2 - with a 45* bend outward in the back to help clear the rear tire
option 3 - with a 90* bend back towards the frame

my concern is how they may hang up while backing up. Maybe I'll mock up some tubes for some visuals.

Here's a pic with the options. There will two or three spreaders between the two pieces. So visualize that part

Made some chromoly lower links tonight to stretch the WB to fit the new JK Unlimited body. I also mounted up some new shoes for her. She's Rollin' on Rock Beasts and CI single stage foams. Can't wait to test out these foams that everyone raves about. Here's a pic of the rear links

Well the G6 body is metallic blue, I actually have two Unlimited bodies. One is a Metallic slate blue the other is the RTR silver.

Well I took the Jeep out to one of my favorite spots in the San Jose today for some testing. I've got some tuning to do. The Pit Bulls rub on the tie rod so till I order some .350 SLW hubs I have to run the Trepadors. I installed some Crawler Innovations single stage closed cell foams in both the Pit Bulls and the Trepadors, damn these things are stiff. Do they tend to break in at all?

Since I couldn't find the offset body mounts for the JK body I had to move the rear shock hoops back and drill new holes in the frame. I must say the shocks are too stiff now. They are actually leaning back just a tad, just like the shocks on a real JK. Unfortunately it's not working for me. So I'm gonna need to figure something else out.

Still to come on this thing: homebrew sliders & rear bumper, the one I made for the G6 is obviously to narrow & doesn't stick out enough. The SSD-RC front bumper is really well thought out and manufactured. It's just a bit large for my taste, a svelte new front bumper maybe in the future. I really like to JK R2J Kustoms is using in his JK sliders thread in the SCX10 forum.

In case anyone who has these SSD-RC wheels and is looking to change hubs for track width reasons. The SSD-RC hubs are measuring .240" to give you an idea on which SLW hubs to get. Hope that helps some of you.

I installed the .350 hubs tonight. They gave me the clearance I was after and only added 1/4" of track. I actually like the wider stance, normally I don't.

What you guys thoughts on either removing the fender flares or raising them up? I need more up travel and raising the body or using a lift is just plain silly in my opinion.

Seriously considering a much smaller front bumper and a servo winch. Thoughts?

Ok maybe "seriously" was too strong a word lol. The issues I have with the SSD-RC bumper are that it sticks out pretty far and at full lock and full compression the tires hit the bumper. It's R2J's fault! After seeing the front bumper on his teal JK used to display his sliders. That thing is tiny and looks good!

I'm going to remove the factory slider mounts and weld some tabs to hold the Howler tray and add a center leg to support them more. I picked a sheet of 22g stainless to make a rear bumper with.

The Vanquish SLW hubs bolt up to these wheels?

The bolt pattern is the same. The SLW hubs use 4-40 screws so you need to drill the rims a tad bigger and buy some screws but yes. I used 1/4" long 4-40 screws on mine.

Rich, I still have a few things to do to get her in ideal crawling shape. I've still got to wire in the BEC(I've been slacking). I have a Heyok winch controller coming and I need to build a rear bumper.

Got the front bumper just about done. I want to cap the ends I think. I have a little clean up to do, possibly a grill guard and paint obviously.

Very approach angle friendly

Now to make a rear bumper
