What a fantastic day of crawling today...the rain was off and on, but only made the lines more interesting and challenging. My Wroncho Bug performed admirably today...the rear weight diet paid off in dividends, the f/r weight bias was really good and the combination of 4WS was over the top. Four wheel steering takes so much thought and hand/eye coordination to accomplish and when done successfully, some amazing lines can be accomplished. It really is crawling on a whole new level and I highly recommend having at least on 4WS rig in your collection. I did suffer from studdering today and I think it was from having moisture in the sensor cable ports. Nonetheless, my Wroncho Bug was amazing today. Last edited by bilinvic; 09-06-2017 at 10:00 PM. |

I hate it when you don't realize you are pedal to the metal....especially with a 3S powered HH 3300kV motor and your trajectory is into a tree! Last edited by bilinvic; 09-06-2017 at 10:01 PM. |

All cleaned up and the front end has been trimmed up to eliminate any signs of the damaged body from smashing into that tree! (ugh)! I like how the Yeti front end tube chassis is exposed now. Last edited by bilinvic; 09-06-2017 at 10:02 PM. |

I decided I wanted to go back with the full bug body for the Yeti. The original version I built didn't utilize the Yeti tube chassis, so it will be a little different this time around plus I will not be adding lights to the roof. I'm not 100% sure on colours yet...I have some ideas though! The nerf bars have been removed so that the frame & body will sit lower on the frame...the Yeti tube chassis is rigid enough to keep the rocks from pushing the body inwards. The bug body is so versatile and looks great in any form IMHO. A comparison to what's remaining from the original Yeti Bug body..... Naked, with just the Yeti tube chassis.... I was going to say i liked the full Bug body instead but I finally read the last page and you decided to bring it back, much cooler looking... Vintage color would be cool on the old bugger... Great build man..... |

Good call on the vintage paint scheme rustneversleeps....that's what I had in mind. Freshly painted....one of my favourite parts of a new body is peeling off the exterior clear wrap; it's just so satisfying! Last edited by bilinvic; 09-06-2017 at 10:04 PM. |

Time for a motor change. Out with Holmes Hobbies first gen TrailMaster BL540 3100kV (2 pole) motor...in with a Tekin Pro4 4000kV (4 pole) motor. I added the 3 green motor plate aluminum spacers to move the motor rearward a couple of millimeters to clear the front upper link mount. For now, I'm going with 11t / 54t (56p) gearing. I will probably go down to a 9 tooth pinion since I don't need the speed that a 3S powered 4000kV motor will put out. I also cranked up the punch control to 60% to de-tune the lower end of the throttle power and turned the forward throttle down to 85% thru the DX4S. If I want more top end speed I can adjust that thru the transmitter very easily instead of having to plug the MMP into the computer. While I had the motor and trans out, I lowered the front upper link mount to add more squat characteristics to the front suspension (rear needs anti-squat, front needs squat for improved rock crawling). I'm looking forward to getting this rig out on the rocks with all these changes over the last couple of weeks....but it needs to get a little warmer out first. No thanxs...I'll take rain over snow any day....I'm hoping this will be the fifth year in a row that I haven't had to pick up a shovel. Victoria is the "Florida" of Canada!

Today marked the day of the 1st annual Quak RC King of the Rock competition in Victoria, BC. Two classes, 1.9 & 2.2. I brought my 1.9 SCX10.2 and my 2.2 Wroncho Bug. When all was said and done my 10.2 got the best (lowest time) score and won the 1.9 class outright. My Wroncho Bug won best looking 2.2 rig. I walked away with a new pair of P-L 1.9 Flat Iron XL tires and a $30.00 gift certificate to Pro-Line. It was a great turnout accompanied by equally great weather. I made a couple of driver errors with the Wroncho Bug on one run which put me out of the running despite a couple of really successful runs. Thanxs Quak RC for putting this event on and I look forward to more in the future. Last edited by bilinvic; 09-06-2017 at 10:11 PM. |
