Quick question and I may have just over looked the answer to this. Does this use stick or saddle packs. I've seen people saying it has been run on 3s but is this a stick or saddle pack? I have a few 2s stick packs I'm hoping I'll be able to use. Also do you think a MMP w/ a 4600kv motor would be to much? I don't plan on doing super slow crawling so cogging isn't a huge issue, but I'm also not looking for the insane speed runs. I know the kit isn't out but this is something I would like to figure out before getting it. The main thing I'm concerned about are the batteries. Thanks for anyone that may have some insight to this.

Would someone please help me decide on a cheap but good battery option? Do I need 100C battery, or will 20 or 30C rating be enough? I assumed I'd want a 5000 Mah battery for longer run times, but it seems the 1000-2000 range are popular. Why? Because of weight or size, or other reasons? What size do you recommend? Prices are across the board, so how much should I expect to spend, and what brands build quality batteries for a good price? Do I want a battery with a hard case or not? I tried to use the search option, but there is so much outdated battery info, and alot of the chat requires a better understanding of this stuff. I'm learning (slowly) but want to make sure I don't throw money down a hole on crappy batteries. Thanks!

What you need to do is follow the dimensions above and buy a pack to fit. 2s is what will work with the stock ESC. c rating has to be coupled with mah to get the answer of what your battery is capable of. A 20c battery of 2500mah to 5000 mah will be fine. If 5000 mah a 10-15c pack would work okay. As for a charge you need to get a lipo compatible charger with a built in balancer. This would be a good pack to buy: http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-3800-2s1p.html and this charger: http://www.hobbypartz.com/75p-t606-charger.html Hobbypartz has good products and fast shipping and the customer service is good as well. These are not top of the line but are both good products to get you going. |

I agree with what TexasSP said. I would imagine that if you are sticking with the stock electronics a 25c pack would be plenty. The C rating is telling you the amount of power it can provide continuously. Most have a burst that they can support for a short period of time. Where is everyone pre-ordering their's from. I'm about to pull the plug... CKRC has the best price, but I've heard bad things about them. Would RPP be the way to go?

I know a lot of you don't follow the Montana Scale Designs Nationals thread., But ya probably should have if your intrest in the Wraith was need to know. Once again Axail hosted the Event Making this the largest scale Competition to date. This years spec class involved the Wraith and was not only unvailed and driven all day but the FIRST WRAITH was awarded at the event followed by Axail's Brad Dumont a.k.a. BENDER signing his autographed seal of approval on the box. My take on the Wraith is pretty simple. 1. EVERYONE who is a fabricator/custom builder/or designer wants more than anything the axles. Stay tuned, you'll be able to get them. 2. Truck comes with Axail RIPSAW tires. No need to replace them at all. Those meats love EVERYTHING! 3. Rims, yeah I would fork up for a little bottom weight. If you don't have alot of money, wheel weights for the rims. If you can invest, some Aluminum rims should do well like VP's Mayhems, ext. 4. Like anything in any kit, 90% of those who have been building for a few years switch out the stocker links, suspension, and electronics. If your looking to play around and just have fun, keep it simple and have fun. the worst that can happen is the cost to fix it will be cheap. If your looking to bash it and abuse it a little, upgrade the servo to a Hitec 645 or 5645mg/add a larger battery or buy extra's/ stock up on parts and have at it. If your intention is to drive it at a local level, well you know the score. Upgrade it and call it good. The truck is indeed capable and as Axail has prooved with the Honcho. In stock form with a few upgrades it can perform well and will be another flagship to complete the battlegrounds arsenal that Axail has done once again. I can honestly say running Nats this year with a class one, two and three that the Dingo is an excellent class 1, and the Honcho for class 2. I wont be suprised seeing tons of Wraith's for class 3 next year. And if all goes well, spec class next year just may be Axails Wraith with Parker running it as a G6 race. How was the firmer compound on the Wraith ripsaws compared to the softer compound on the ones available in stores already?

The tires left a little to be desired. They had to change up the course because of them. They wouldn't do anything on wet rock. If you're considering using this as more of a go-fast basher type rig I would consider running an old school stick pack. Everyone that watched it get air commented on how level it would jump with the weight of a stick pack in the back end. If you're buying lipos for it get the biggest one that will fit. They ended up cutting up a sock and folding up some paper to get a 2000 mAh lipo to work in the stock tray so it wouldn't come out. And to everyone that didn't come and run the spec class this year, the Wraith course didn't have a finish line, it was a finish jump. If you touched the line you got a penalty. For a box stock rig I would say it held up very well with everyone driving it like a rental and no spare parts around. Can't wait to see what Kaetwo does with his. Big props to Axial for giving a new in box Wraith to the spec class winner. |

You guys that were at Scale Nats should also remember that the Wraith that was being driven is one of the marketing prototypes, not a production rig. There are some minor changes between the Protos and the kits. We busted a c-hub last night on it. We be jumping the piss out of it on pavement! Not to worry, XR10 c-hubs bolt on! |
