Default Trazh's Wraith Build

So I got a kit for a great deal just because the box had a small gash in it. It arrived and I have put about 4 hours into the build. Here is a list of the parts I have been collecting for the build and I will post pics soon.

Castle Creations Mamba Monster ESC
Castle Creations 4600kv 4 Pole Motor
OEM 284 oz Servo
Aluminum Servo Arm
Futaba 2.4 3ch RX
Light Controller 8 channel (15 lights total at this point)
Stainless Steel Wraith Screw Kit
MIP Drive Shafts
STRC Rear Lockout Hubs
STRC Aluminum Lower Links
STRC Front C Knuckles
STRC Front Steering Links
STRC Motor Plate
STRC Steering Link and Drag Link
Axial 103MM Aluminum Threaded Shocks
Axial Universal Light Bar
Blue Shock Socks
3 Racing Pan Hard Link and Chassis Mounted Servo Kit
3 Racing Shock Droop Setup
HR Diff Covers
HR Sway bar kit
25mm Axle Extensions
Hood Hinge Kit
RC4WD King Kong Tow Shackles
Traxxas Rod End Bushings
Tamiya Toyota Hilux Front Hard Body
Aluminum Side Panels
Aluminum Rear Panel
Aluminum Top Panel
Aluminum Skid Plate
Aluminum Front and Rear Inner Fender Panels
Custom Spare Tire Mount
Pro Line Roof Rack
Roof Rack Bungee Net
Custom Made Tow Straps
Custom Made Rope Line
Chain
Losi Window Nets
Tractor Supply Tool Box (for electronics)
Losi Bead Lock Wheels
Lots of Shrink Tube (for wires)
Lots of Zip Ties
A cool driver and passenger (to be revealed close to finish)
Plenty of Scale Goodies!
Radio Shack Project Box
Scale Diamond Plate Bed Top Plate

Been building the collection of parts for a while, I am making this for a trailing rig that has some speed. I would like to get a nice low ride but still have some crawling capability.

So I painted the roll cage and got it mostly assembled. I left some parts unfastened to have access later to get the interior and electronics in. Here are some pics of the process.

Did the hilux body fit that nicely from the get go or did you narrow the front of the cage?

By the way, that spray job on the cage looks awesome. Glad to know that it can be done.

I haven't done anything to the cage. I did cut away at the back of the body though to get it to drop down all the way. I will be chopping the hood and fastening the fenders to the shape of the cage. Then trimming the hood and hinging it.

Looks like you changed directions a little bit. Are you planning to run the Hilux cab with the Wraith panels in place? Doesn't look quite right to me. Would be better if you maybe chopped the rear of the cage up a little and then dovetailed the Hilux bed to fit. Or just run it with the Hilux cab and bare rear cage.

That silver painted cage is SWEET. I've been thinking about the possibility of doing that to mine and after seeing how it looks it might be in for a tear down and some paint this winter.

I chassis mounted the servo instead of axle mount, just seemed like the right thing to do given the space between the servo and the chassis. I am looking at having a brushed motor in this thing so I can get the motor wet. I am looking for some speed however. I had my eye on a Traxxas Stinger 20t or a Traxxas Titan 12t. I will be running a 3s 40c 3300mah on 80/15 gearing, any suggestions? I would just hate to destroy an awesome Castle 4600 4 pole motor because I wanted to get a little muddy.

I blew my stock motor about 10 months ago and have, believe it or not, been running a Titan 12t EVER SINCE without fail. I can't believe it myself but my rig out-crawls every other wraith in the springs. Not to be cocky hahahaha.

On the stock AE-2 ESC? I ran the 12T 550 for a while, but it kept getting hot really quickly, so I switched to an Integy 35T V11 Pro, which seems to be a better choice. Although, I think I have the rear short shaft issue, which could be the culprit, too.

Brushless won't care much about the water, especially if it's sensorless. Just clean it out real good after any water/mud filled adventures!

Love the silver cage too, that looks awesome.
