Looking good with the Ti links. Personally TI is somewhat hard to scratch but it all depends on what your crawling over really. The covers is a great idea actually, the slick material outside but something stiff inside.

Few little tips: taking a dremel to the tires could help improve grip and if they offer a Delrin skid... get one. The CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic) loves to stick to stuff ive learned and it sucks!

Mostly granite and hard igneous rock here. Even cement was showing some scratches, so I decided to save them. After a bit of use the nylon tube is working out incredibly well.

Busted the servo today. Crawling the couch. Pulling it apart now to see what let go.

Lame... My new Savox isn't cutting the mustard. I need something stronger.

what servo? Couch crawling is really hard on the car since the traction couches give is... just stupid good now if rocks were that good!

The stock servo. I cant complain as I was trying to break it.
Also the couch is microfiber - so grip galore was the scenario.

I'll pick up a new servo tomorrow at the LHS if they have a steel geared Savox for a decent price.
Here is what I am looking at so far:
1230SG
1231SG
1283SG
and
2273SG

I have a Hitec HS645MG in my micro, and based on what I have seen and read the Hitec stuff just doesn't give the performance to live up to their cost.

Your thoughts?

One problem I have with Hitec's steel and Ti geared servos is there is always one composite gear servo that seems to be the weak link.
Also, $109 for a used servo with the label missing? :/

Tearing the servo down revealed the output gear (with the spline for the servo horn) had a stripped section.
This is pretty soft aluminum.
As a temp fix I removed the rotation limiting pin, spun the gear 180° and re-drilled a hole to press fit the pin in right at the stripped section. Damn I am cheap.

Fixed.

No more couch crawling until a servo upgrade and BEC are installed...

Got some more goodies the other night.
No pics as of now.
Pro-Line slash rear shocks (4), a Tekin 35t HD crawler motor, and some pinions for gearing options. Been so busy it's all still sitting in the bag since last Thursday.

No joke. Between my civ. job and the Air Force, I worked 159 hours in a 12 day stretch with no days off. Now taking a 9 day trip to AZ this Friday. I've never looked forward to a vacation this much.
Both my crawlers are coming with.

Dropped the new Tekin HD 35t in this morning.
Gonna have to get some 3s batteries, regear when I get home and drop in a new servo and BEC.
This motor is balls torquey but 15/87 gearing on 2s is too slow.

Really playing with fire today:

Oh man it was.
Went up, let the 7yr old drive down, then did it all again. On one pack even.

What batteries are you running? I've paralleled a couple of 3S 5000mAh batteries. It runs for hours. Pretty cool.
