Yeah mine has quite a few mods already so I am gonna slow down a bit and upgrade as things wear out he will be getting mods as either things break or he gets good reports from school.
I told him when I get my tax return that we will get him his Vanquish rockstar beadlocks he wants.

He got student of the month 2 months ago so he got to pick himself a black currie front axle as his next mod we had to wait to find one in stock. It should be here wed.

Yeah. I watch the web and pick up stuff i know is hard to find i have a box of vp stuff that is hard to find that i kmow is gonna come up in my build at some point. What you have to do is decide on what color you want and then hunt for it check ebay craigslist and google and stuff pops up. I call and talk to someone there if i really need something and then they tell me where in the production que it is so i know whe they are gonna pop up. cant really say to much he has to work and don't want him to get asked all the time when stuff is coming up. But i will tell you this that the method 101 in 2.2 is gonna be coming up in a couple weeks in colors too i dont get specific dates but i get a hint that is pretty close. I am in the same boat. I have used my stash of wheels already and need spares for axial fest in case something happens. I will be watching so i can grab up a few more green.

Vp stuff is hard to find. They make it in batches so you gotta wait and then snag it. Its like fishing hahaha. Call and ask if what your looking for is coming up soon. They will give you a pretty good idea if its coming up within the next 60 days or not. I have learned alot about being patient when buying vp stuff.

Its kinda like the ( V) if your girl has it in stock all the time you will get bored but if you gotta chase it a lil its all the better when you get it sometimes when i snag a vp part i have been waiting a long time for i gotta smoke a cigarette after. Hahahahaha

Thanks man these rigs are geeting into the pretty pricey range but they look so sick and you cant put a price on a good ol fun time with your son. Now that he is big enough to not need my help every second driving his rig it is so freaking fun. I would rather be bashing cars with the lil man than out with my friends acting a fool.

I have been into the hobby for a about 10 years now. Started with nitro associated cars but then found crawlers and lost my mind since i have an offroad addiction have about 3 scx10s and now the 2 wraiths. I also build 1:1 offroad baja trucks and i have 3 of those i am building my own offroad team with so i am really busy and don't post on the forums much. But i am on here reading daily for about the last 6 years. Was on here as a guest for about 2 years before i signed up. I have started posting alot more lately figured i would document my fun.

Thanks everybody. Got alot of building to do before axial fest this year. The lil man might be one of the youngest there and he is pretty tough i think he will finish the whole 3 days if his truck lasts. (Good ol dad is gonna make sure he has a bulletproof truck and a crapload of spare part for axialfest) i already have a few parts i am gonna surprise him with like a black centered rear currie axle and scale knucles and c hubs. Our rigs will most likely be completely vanquish by then.

After talking to the people at the campground they have ohv trails right from the campground so i am gonna be finishing up one of my 1:1 trucks to take up there.
Gonna try and get the mini ford raptor finished in time.

ok so this is either gonna be and epic ****in fail or this is gonna be just plain epic. Lets see what happens. Gonna do about 4-5 coats on the sandwiched parts of the bard and the top and bottom will get 3 coats. gonna put the coats on so thick it will basically encase the whole thing in acrylic coating. gonna let it cure for about 3-4 days between each coat since I am gonna put it on so thick.

Great thread and pictures! Please let us know how the acrylic coating works for you. I've been wanting to waterproof a couple of my ESCs.

Thanks for sharing!

the reason I went with the acrylic coating is because if I get a small thin bit by accident on the button it should still be flexible enough to use them. Also the acrylic is thicker than the silicone and because the fxr pro has a triple stacked board that's glued together I wanted to be able to drip it down in the cracks and then coat the whole thing so that the area between the stacks fills with acrylic. I want to encase the whole setup in the acrylic so water doesn't get to the chips or mosfet's inside.

If you have a esc that is a single board with a heat sink on top of the mosfets I would use the silicone or the urethane coating because its thinner and will get down in between the spaces where the heat sink is glued to the board better. the urethane looks brown in the bottle but dries clear so you can still see the leds. If you are confident in your abilities the urethane coating if done right will be stronger and longer lasting than the other 2 coatings. plus it is more resistant to chemicals and scratches on the board so it will really protect your investment if in a bad accident and sand or something gets on the esc it wont scratch it.

Next I will try to do an rx8 if this fxr works good but I think I will try the silicone or urethane because the esc on the rx8 is 2 single boards with a plug so I can unplug the board and coat them separate instead of gluing them together with the acrylic coating. might try a mama max first rx8 is expensive

Also Holmes is now waterproofing the mamba max right out of the box for those that are looking to upgrade to a new esc.

But this method should work well for those who have already bought a setup they will be keeping.
