Yeah, thats what I'm talking about!! I'll be interested to see how your KV compares with a standard 540 since you got your airgap pretty tight, but have thin back iron and thin magnets. Look back on our previous emails about the magnet layout, I hope you made a few extra cans because the armature is very sensitive to magnet position for smooth startup.

I have lots of 7 slot blanks here if you need one, it may need grinding and a new comm to fit inside your hood though.

i started with .3mm airgap , fixed the mags with CA glue and tried to spin the arm
fail
the mags were easy to remove , so i tried it with more airgap
and ended at .9mm
it still feels to strong with a straight slot arm , but not to strong with a 3 slot skewed
a 5 or 7 slot skewed should be perfect

i will use the checkpoint brushes and hoods , so itīs easy to set it up for comms from 7.5 to 11mm with washers or shortened brush Hoods

at last it should be exactly the motor i wanted
power/torque like a 30t , small diameter and light weight

.9mm airgap is certainly workable, you will just have a very high KV and low drag. If you want to use .3mm I have some arms we had tooled up specifically for good startup and drag with as tight as .015mm airgaps

The current batch of arms are not skewed, but there are some machining tricks and magnet layout tricks to get startup smooth without the skew on 7 slot.

Wonderful, Christian. You're the one that's skewed, in a good way.
