Ok, I have a few updates. After the iHobby comp I was able to work a few things out. The rig worked VERY well, and placing 5th aftr only having a couple of ours drive time on my first MOA, and the first time using a stick Radio, eh, not too bad, just need more practice.

I was worried that I was going to frag the gears like so many others did, but as others can attest, I beat the crap out of the XR10 axles and the held up very well, with completely stock internals!!! I think the main key with these axles, RUN A LIGHT WEIGHT RIG. My RTR weight at the comp was, after some tuning do to to heavy of springs was 5lbs 3oz. and I was able to hammer down with the rear bound bound and sucked under a rocks and flip the rig back and forth, no damage. Yay!!

Things that changed or are being changed:

Mamba Max's are being ditched for x2 Tekin B1R's. (size is 1/2 the FXR and as long as you use an external BEC it will work perfect)
Crappy Integy motors are being ditched for x2 Tekin handwound 45's.
Radio got swapped, now running the new Aurora 9ch Stick w/6ch micro receiver prototype. (this will change again when the new Pistol Grip is released)
Running the stock Axial shocks limited .5" in the rear, and .31" external and .25" internal in the front with super soft secret squirrel springs.

Anyways, here's a few pics of it in action, and the new springs!!

Nice build and good to see you have yours driving. I cant wait to get mine going. Still waiting on electrical components.

What did it take to fit the 7980 in there?

The only thing I had to do was run the upper link screw in from the passenger side, and that gave me enough clearance. The holes in the ears are little wider than normal servos, but with washers, and a little finesse it bolted right into place. I think I should get new servo posts that fit the 7980 though, just make it beefier and make sure there are no failures at that point.

OK, so some post i-Hobby updates, and a few changes.

I received a few goodies in the mail from a new sponsor, and after a little weigh in, dropped 1/4 POUND of sprung mass. (Sounds better than 4 oz!! lol)

New Goodies:

So you understand the size, here is one next to a bottle cap:

So, here is the old setup: weigning in at 4 3/4 oz

And the new, at 3/4 oz.:

I spent a good many hours talking details with Jim and Ty over at Tekin, these little guys will do just fine as long as I run an external BEC, which, I do of course. With them all wired up, the total footprint is: 1 3/4"L x 1"W x 11/16"T.
