Sneaking in a little update from work... I forgot to mention a lot. First, RTR on the rig was 5lbs 5oz. It felt too light, so I kept a couple of ounces in each front wheel. Now it sits at 5lbs 9oz. That will be my starting point. T1e links are awesome, but I was catching the fronts with the tires because I run a little narrow. I got some of my Big Ron's Customs SS links from a different project and put an extra bend in them. Now the tire rub is gone and they should slide just as well. For uppers in the front, I used some of Jeffs Rock Links because they have a nice curve that allows for lots of room. And its easy to have this much time when you don't sleep. More after work. Allright... the VP stuff... I went through about 4 blown out bearings in the 8mm variety without breaking a stock gear. I switched to 9mm bearings and got the VP cases for both ends. When I finally did blow a 9mm bearing, the balls were big enough to chip the final two drive gears in the rear axle. That is when I ordered the VP motor plates. Almost everyone on here has these already so you know how nice they are. The axles are very smooth and quiet now. Score 1 for VP. I already had a set of V1 SLW wheels, and I picked up another set used so i could run Eric's knuckle weights. I'm running .600 on each side. I also have the VP Knuckles... (very nice peices) but I kept the stock c-hubs. I don't know why. I also have the VP upper link mount ready to go on after our comp this weekend I'll post up some pictures of that when I get it on. Thanks guys. I really hope I get the hang of the Rockshow AND the radio by Saturday With all the rain, the first courses will be at the comp. I was on the garage pile tonight and my rear shocks are compressing WAY before the fronts. Not if I lift the front by hand, but if I drive it into a twist it's like the front shocks stiffen up then give when it hits a certain pressure. I'm thinking it's an upper link thing, but unsure yet. |

just saying.. SLW V1 - V6 all have the same inner profile, so as far as clearance goes for knuckles weights there is no difference, only hubs will change the clearance. |

Hmmm... wonder why scott's work and mine have full contact ?? We are both running 475 hubs. I'll get a picture. We have the same hexes too. Puzzling. Thanks for the input Tom. EDIT EDIT EDIT..... I am pretty sure the knuckle weights weren't seated all the way before the set screw was tightened. I fixed that issue and tried another ring on each side. This time they fit... with NO modifications. On one side I had a little rubbing at the top of the weight ring, but I think that may have been due to some bearing play. Now I am fitting .600 on each side with 475 hubs. Last edited by Harvo; 03-31-2011 at 03:11 PM. | |
