I know someone who had trouble with some axial products and talked a ton of smach on axial. Guess what he's still running to this day? AXIAL.

Have you contacted axial for replacement parts? After new HD gears, aluminum housings and quality bearings are installed, it will last. Every rc has its problems, finding a rc out of the box that will last is pretty rare now and days. Brushless and plastic don't mix.

The issue right now is that axial is not producing enough of the replacement parts and they are out of stock everywhere. The new HD gears are being built wrong and the original gears are difficult to find since everybody is having this same problem. I might just pick up a Bomber tomorrow from my LHS so I have something to run while I wait on parts.

The problem is axial didn't design the bulkhead correctly for the bevel gears.
Sold it anyway.

Knowing full well they WILL FAIL!! DIDN'T CARE.
figuring they will last long enough to have everyone thinking they just abused it to much.

DIDNT WORK HERE!!!

POS COMPANY.

Oh yeah!!

The losi xxl 2e will be here tomorrow.

Im confused, you are pussed at axial because there are people who keep blowing front diffs in their first truck designed for yhis purpose and scale?

You do realize losi has had similar issues on their products as well? You may have wanted to research your replacement too as ive know a few of these xxl 2e that had their diff cases crack. Maybe not at the XLs scale of problems but the 2e is what the 4th revision of that chasis?

Just spent some time looking at the REPLACEMENT.

Axial is NOT EVEN IN THE SAME UNIVERSE!!

The scretty is poorly built with incompetent engeering.

And I haven't even charged batts yet.

In hindsight I should have gotten a bomber.
From reading seems to be better. The scretty is a engineering incompetent mess. If it wasn't for BHB I or us wouldn't even know what to do.
Much kudos to him. For your determination to fix those engineering screw ups.
With out BHB and his mod they would be all sitting waiting till axial figured something out.
Meaning everybody would be looking at there scretty like I am.
Then you can't even hardly find parts if you did want to fix it.

Yup I read about a few things that can happen.
I even pmed a few guys that had them in their sig.
Guess what.
DRIVER INDUCED!

Most common problem with my REPLACEMENT.
Landing with full throttle on= broken drive pins.
2nd thing.
Loctite set screws on trans output shafts.

Nothing about gears not turning because they don't fit.

I would rather see BHB spend his time modifying this REPLACEMENT. instead of fixing a scretty plaqued with cheap junk.
I'd like a some aftermarket parts for this. Ya know fancy colored aluminum.
Guess what.

IT'S NOT MADE CAUSE IT DON'T BREAK IN A WEEK.

Hey BHB put you thoughts and skills to work where people will like them.

And I STILL want my money BACK !!!#!!

Just ran the REPLACEMENT about 10 minutes till lipo cutof.

AMAZING!!!

No gear or trans whine.
Nobody else noticed this?
That scretty is or WAS so loud I thought I should have ear plugs in. Lol.

The REPLACEMENT is so quiet.
Just kinda whines a little when it's right next to you.
HEY BHB you got your work cutout for you to quiet up that scretty.
Axial POS company.

Glad youre hapoy with your new toy. Hope you are honest enough to list your eventual breakages.

Ive had my XL since release with only one break, and that was the front diff bearings getting torn up from hours of 6s, 3 wheel speed runs and loads of bad landings.

I do hear you on the aftermarket costs and noisy trans but doesnt bother me much since i used to run nitro.

I'll chime in on my XXL broken parts if i may.
  • 2 Bodies Need to paint my 3rd
  • 5 or 6 body posts
  • Literally a handful of those stupid e-clips (Need to try STRC pins)
  • 4 Non HD Drive Cups - Didn't break but wore out. Zero after HD upgrade in 20+ packs
  • 3 Drive Shafts which happen when you land on 1 wheel vertically from greater than 10ft
  • Just about every bearing except the Trans until i switched to Fast Eddy
  • 1 Rear Bumper (not broke per se just pulled screws through)
  • 1 Wing Mount
  • A dozen or so Shims
  • 4 Losi Drive Cup pins - Zero after HPI upgrade in 20+ packs
  • Replaced a dozen or so grub screws because i don't re-use and have never had 1 come out
  • 2 Tires from sticks puncturing sidewalls
  • I broke my skin on my arm when i jumped it at myself.
  • Probably little stuff here and there all totaling like $50 (besides bodies)

You'll never convince me that Losi sucks or breaks like a normal RC does.

Oh! and even with it's list of faults i love my YXL.

Never said Losi sucks, quite the contrary, they are a great company. I just think his experience is going to change much.

I just dont understand how people break so much, and usually those people tend to break any brand they get their hands on. I do stupid shit all the time with my various trucks, almost never break anything and when i do i chalk it up to....well, me doing stupid shit.

End of the day were talking about a companies first dive into a new size and genre. almost nobody does it perfect the first time, hence all the revisions and new models every manufacturer has.

Let me help you understand... The breakage that 47 is SO wound up about is FAULTY PARTS not driver abuse... Trust me I know how to chalk em up... But that's NOT the case.. Until you install the HD gears (WITH OUT ) MY MOD you just will never understand..

LOL that's NOTHING like my parts list !!!
6 HD sets
3 bulkheads
3 axels
3 transmissions
3 tranny gearsets + bearings
2 outputs
1 CVD
1 a arm
screws
pins
shims
all new bearings
2 broken wheels
2 servos
in 4 months..

REMEMBER AFTER THE (2ND) WEEK OF OWNING MY YETI XL HOBBICO SENT ME THE HD GEARS!!!

the ONLY break at that time was the servo burnt up...and a replacement of the straight cut gears... I ate them up with 6s... maybe my fault... but the

CATASTROPHIC DETONATION WAS THE HD GEARS FAULT WITH THE (AXLES AND BULKHEADS) (AND FRAGILE TRANSMISSIONS) THE REST WAS FROM ME TRYING TO BREAK THE HD GEARS AFTERWARDS FOR THE PROOF THAT MY MOD IS THE SHIT AND IT CAN AND WILL SAVE BASHERS MONEY!!!!!!!!!

But after the mod... priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND I STILL LOVE MY XL

Even more what pissed me off is they just put something together quickly to get to market. They where missing sales. Didn't care about the gear problems.
They had to know.
No way they couldn't know about it.
The bean counters ran numbers and said you'll sell more than what breaks. So go ahead. Sell it anyway.
After we got there money, what are they gonna do.

What I find amazing is almost everybody just swallows it.

What would you like me to do? Set mine on fire and send it back to them? The YXL is the funnest rc I have owned to date. I have no control how it was built. All I can do is what I know and learn here to try and make it survive. Am I a little disgusted with it,yes. Some things could have been done better. But every rc I own has its issues. Some way worse than others.

Yep I can vouch for that Steve~O !!! Maybe if it was a XMAXX it would've already set it's self on FIRE LOL... WTF and (WE) think we have it bad!!
And I don't mind owning a Corvette instead of a Bentley Phantom ... I think they are too bulky anyways...Fix the f ups and BASH ON!! I was too far in the hole to jump out so I built a foundation out of it...

I hope 47 dose the HD gear mod and gives his XL a chance....Because it IT the funnest R.c that I've ever own Too!! I was watching some XMAXX videos last night and thinking I glad I bought a XL even tho it has its f ups like ALL of them...

That's happened what once maybe twice? Traxxas not only replaced them but got a real fix to the owners. I'd trade my yxl for an xmaxx any day of the week and twice on Sunday. At least people will develop real parts for them.
